Who We Are

We’re Double Jump: a team of two sisters, Kris and Rachel, who share a love for video games. We like sharing that passion with like-minded people, which is why we have a space on the internet just to talk about nerdy things.

Double Jump discusses video games in all capacities. We write opinion pieces on the blog, talk games on our podcast, and play them on our YouTube channel.

Our goal for Double Jump is to create a safe, friendly space for all those who love video games–board games, card games, nerdy movies, what have you! We’re a welcoming community, and can’t wait to game with you.

Meet Double Jump

Kris

Kris is the older sister of the pair, and has been playing video games since she was able to read. She was introduced to the gaming world mainly by her uncles with the Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 consoles.

As a child, she wanted to grow up to be a teenage mutant ninja turtle, but instead she works a typical 9 to 5 office job. Much of her other time is spent pet-sitting, writing, and role-playing shenanigans in tabletop RPGs.

Favorite Games

Kris mainly plays games that are story- and character-driven. She prefers strategy games, visual novels, and action-RPGs. Games where her choices matter have the biggest impact on her. Some of her favorites include Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, The Legend of Zelda series, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, and indie titles like Stardew Valley and Arcade Spirits.

Rachel

Often seen as the second player, Rachel grew up watching Kris play video games before she was old enough to pick up a Nintendo controller herself. Now she only sometimes gives Kris the hard bosses to defeat.

In real life, Rachel is a full-time pet sitter and part-time storyteller. She writes game reviews for Pure Nintendo Magazine, and is working on creating her own video game.

Favorite Games

Rachel typically plays cozy, light-hearted games such as Luigi’s Mansion, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, and Stardew Valley. She enjoys strong narrative with some of her favorites being Paper Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda series, and the Ace Attorney series. When she’s with friends, they’re usually screaming at one another in Mario Party or causing chaos in their Dungeons & Dragons campaign.
