For the optional prompt of “Spectacles” today, I made a sketch of a little pup dressed up and ready to wish you a very Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I’m actually in a spring mood, but the weather here insists on remaining below freezing. It’s winter’s last little hurrah today and the temperatures are apparently going to shoot up tomorrow. Actually, the temperatures for the next few days will resemble summer until finally returning to something more like spring. It’s been a wild ride when it comes to the weather here. My own pup Elliott is a bit confused as he likes to be outdoors and has been able to for some days and then we tell him he can’t on the very next day. He looks at Philippe and I with a look of suspicion as though we’re just making it all up to ruin his life. Then he’ll mope and whine a bit while looking out the window. Occasionally his inner husky will appear and he’ll come up to one of us and start chewing us out in words that I’m rather glad I don’t understand.

Thankfully, Elliott will get a chance to enjoy the outdoors quite soon. On Saturday it’s supposed to be 93F (34C), which is actually alarmingly warm and more than a bit ridiculous. I’ll have to dig through the closet to figure out where I put my shorts as I wasn’t quite prepared for that level of warmth yet. Heading into spring also means a menu change and a chance to shed some of those winter pounds. This year, I actually did pretty well and only need to drop five pounds. When I was younger that would have meant a couple of weeks, but with my middle-aged lack of metabolism and low calorie needs it means a brave attempt that might only work if I stop eating entirely. That’s not likely to happen so I’ll just accept the extra poundage and try to stave off any additional damage.

Today was crazy busy and I realized I hadn’t written a post when it was nearly too late to bother. It’s been that kind of week and it’s only Tuesday. It feels like I’m in a race and destined to come in last place. But, I have high hopes that I’ll be able to wrestle things into submission and even find a few moments to relax in the days ahead. Of course, if the weather is warm and sunny then Elliott will insist that we spend most of that time walking. Perhaps we’ll find some new path to take or a new trail to visit. It would be nice to change up the scenery and clear my head a bit. And tonight, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, we’re having Irish sausages that are amazingly rare. For the second year in a row, we’ve found them at Whole Foods without a single package of its kind in sight. So, we think it’s most likely delivered by leprechaun each year just for us. I mean, that’s the obvious reason. Life is always rather wonderful when you have a little imagination, and a heaping amount of hope combined with just a little luck.

  1. Hola, sweet Charlie 💜 Super cute pup! 😍 Yikes! Those are some cold temps with a wild turn around of 93*F. 😮 We cooled down a little bit, but a couple of days ago, we were 98*F. 😭 Too soon, Charlie. Way too soon.
I need to get cracking and start crafting again. Sometimes I just don’t have the mojo. I think if I had a craft room, I would do much better. Right now, all of my craft stuff is in plastic containers.
I hope you have a beautiful day, sweet Charlie 💜

    1. Hola mi amiga! 😃💕 Yeah, if the warm weather comes this soon, I am NOT looking forward to summer! Yikes! You should definitely get crafting again… I sketched and painted for years on the kitchen counter before I finally got a desk with drawers. hehe Have a wonderful week! Much love! ❤️

  2. Elliot is probably trying to tell you that the leprechaun meant those sausages for him. He must be a very forgiving fellow, living with people who can’t recognize even the most obvious things! No wonder he cusses… er… chews you out.

    1. Hello Charlie,

The St. Patrick’s Day pup looks smart! I specially like the hat. I envy you that freezing temperature. Please send me some of that cold weather. We’re already melting here in Mumbai! I love how leprechauns are bringing you gifts. A chocolate fairy has been visiting me through recent weeks – before my family can finish one batch, a fresh new batch appears. Not that anyone is complaining though.

      Love,
      Mugdha
