Anvil raises $6.5m USD

Hey there! Mike & Vijay here, the founders of Anvil Robotics. We're super excited to welcome you to the Anvil ecosystem and share some exciting news.

Anvil Robotics has raised a $6.5m seed round led by hard-tech veterans Matter Venture Partners and Humba Ventures with participation from Supercharge.vc, Spacecadet, Position Ventures. We're excited to be working with long time deep tech investors who have backed notable companies like DJI, Q.AI, Quantum Scape, Path Robotics, K2 Space, Bloom Energy, and more.

Anvil's mission is to accelerate this new wave of Physical AI builders by democratizing access to key technologies through a coherent ecosystem of hardware, software, and data solutions. Our modular platform aims to give every Physical AI team access to the same state-of-the-art stack that works together out of the box. This kind of setup used to require a large experienced teams across hardware and software to build, often only venture backed teams with 8-figures of funding could afford. We want to make this accessible to anyone on a grad student budget.

  • On the hardware side, we're designing with full transparency and builder-friendliness in mind. No black boxes, no lock-in, no vendor relationships that put their margins ahead of your roadmap. We're releasing upgrades to our open source robots, and also data collection tools like UMI and more. These are modular and customizable, so you can use what you want, and toss anything that's not important.

  • On the software side, we're building tools as composable modules: performant robot controllers, flexible teleoperation (Quest VR, Gello, leader-follower), reliable data collection and training pipelines, and more — so teams can move faster and stop reinventing the wheel. We prioritize open source standards like ROS2 and LeRobot, and work with these communities to develop deep long term alignment.

This basic tooling is table stakes for building Physical AI, yet everyone is rebuilding the same thing, eating up months of time hitting every speed bump. Imagine building SaaS but being forced to cable up your own servers, that's where we are today.

Now with the Anvil Platform, anyone can train and deploy leading Physical AI models on day 1.

We're just getting started though, we'll be releasing monthly upgrades, open sourcing much of our hardware software and even internal training data.

Keep in touch, drop us a subscribe to see all our new and exciting developments!

Sincerely,

Mike Xia, Vijay Pradeep, and the Anvil Robotics team
