Your questions answered...
Typically you will have 20-30 minutes with the GP which allows time for you to discuss your concerns and symptoms without feeling rushed. If there are multiple issues to be discussed please inform us when you make your appointment and we can potentially extend this time. It will also enable the GP to gather the information they need, including details of your previous medical history together with any relevant lifestyle or family issues. At the end of your appointment you will receive an outcome letter which will confirm the main points of the discussion and any diagnosis and recommended next steps.
Initial consultations for certain services such as Audiology or Minor Surgery may take up to 45 minutes due to the requirement to perform some tests as part of the consultation itself.
In addition to the consultation with the GP or Practitioner, your appointment will also include where appropriate:
Certain tests that are performed as part of specific treatment consults (Audiology)
If you need medication the Practitioner will write a private prescription. (Please note that if a private prescription is given to you, you will have to pay for the medication when you present this at a pharmacy)
If your condition or diagnosis suggests that you will need to see a specialist consultant your GP or Practitioner will providing a referral to an appropriate Consultant as soon as practically possible after you consultation.
If you need imaging tests these will be noted and a referral letter for scans or X-rays will be issued to the appropriate provider.
You may also need other tests such as blood tests, urine tests, swabs etc. The necessary sample may be collected during the consultation or you will be provided with specimen collection bottles or swabs to take away and return.
You will be provided with an outcome letter detailing all of this, together with a copy to share with your NHS GP.
Any further investigations which you may require during or after your appointment, such as blood tests, scans, ECGs etc are not included in the cost of your appointment. Before any such tests are completed the GP will discuss with you why they think these tests are necessary and the costs associated with them.
Repeat prescriptions, except where Doc Plus practitioners have initiated treatment, or (exceptionally) in an emergency.
Ongoing monitoring of long-term conditions where the NHS might be the more appropriate provider of this chronic disease management service.
We do not routinely issue ‘sick’ notes for conditions that Doc Plus GPs are not currently treating.
We cannot offer a service for medical emergencies. If you think you have a medical emergency dial 111 or 999
We offer a wide range of services which are listed in the “Services” section of this website. The rule of thumb is that if you have a condition you would normally go to your NHS GP to discuss then we would also be happy to see you.
We also offer some extended services you might not find in a GP Surgery.
Full Audiology Service – Including fitting of Hearing Aids
Injectable Services – Both for medical conditions and aesthetics
Ultrasound Scanning – Medical and Antenatal
If you have any medical conditions or concerns that you do not see mentioned on our site please call our clinic, we may be able to see you or signpost you to another service or provider who can help.
Registering with our clinic and being treated by one of our GPs or Practitioners will NOT affect your registration at your NHS practice. We recommend that patients maintain their registration with NHS services and also that you give consent that Doc Plus can update your GP on treatments and tests carried out by Doc Plus so that your NHS GP holds your complete medical records history.
Our Clinic is not currently an accredited provider with the large UK Private Medical Health Insurance (PMI) providers, however if you wish to use our service please consult your insurance provider who will advise on your cover and may provide you with an authorisations number to use our clinic.
Some PMIs, will require you to pay for your appointment at the time of booking with Doc Plus, and we will provide receipts for all services. Thereafter you may be able to claim back the cost of your appointments or treatments if it is covered by your insurer.
But always check with your PMI before undertaking a consultation or a treatment.
Our clinic, including our travel clinic in Glasgow, has an on-call phone service where an existing patient can contact our ‘Out of Hours’ advisory service if they have a significant concern and they need immediate advice. This number is provided to all current patients.
However, if you have a non-urgent, routine enquiry please call the Clinic during normal opening hours.
If you require urgent medical attention when the clinic is closed please use NHS 111 Services, or call 999, or attend your local Accident and Emergency Department as appropriate.
Our Patient Admin System has “Zoom” embedded as the preferred Video Consultation Platform and you will be sent an email invitation when the appointment is created with links that allow you to connect at the appointed time.
You can join a Zoom call from a phone or PC without having the Zoom App installed, the link will open up the connection on your device’s bowser.
Although, we do recommend that you install the Zoom App as this give you more functionality.
Dear Dr Bhopal, my sincerest gratitude and thanks for your help and support during both my diagnosis and treatment. It was greatly appreciated, and I owe it to you for getting me through the other side of this!SS, Caithness
Extremely impressed & reassured by the consultation. My doctor was very helpful and understanding . I feel well informed about the benefits and risks of the treatment I now need to have, and I am confident about going ahead. Very helpful, very nice manner.DN, Glasgow
Everyone was very nice, and it was great to be seen so quickly and treated so well especially when you are in need of help. The staff I met were caring, thoughtful and helpful, even from calling up to make an appointment, it is a good atmosphere for patients to be treated in. I will continue to come here if I can’t wait to be seen by my family doctor. I felt safe and was very well taken care of.EF, Hamilton
