DLT Science Foundation (DSF), in collaboration with The HBAR Foundation Sustainable Impact Fund, proudly introduces the DLT Climate Hackathon!
This monumental event is an opportunity to empower developers, researchers, and climate enthusiasts to explore and refine the methods for tracking and mitigating climate change.
DLT Earth’s mission is to build a more accountable and impactful ecosystem to work towards rectifying the catastrophic impacts of climate change by reinforcing the integrity and efficacy of sustainable finance, climate project methodologies, sustainability markets, and ESG reporting.

About the challenge

Three Months to Hack: We kick off on the 17th of January! The hackathon offers an initial 3 months of intensive programming and activities, with the submission window remaining open throughout this period.

Weekly Workshops & Support: Participants will benefit from workshops led by specialist guests and regular technical office hours. Additionally, a dedicated Discord channel will provide ongoing support.

Requirements
What to Build: Create a working methodology that uses Hedera Guardian to drive forward climate accountability and support the DLT Earth’s mission of Auditable, Discoverable, and Liquid sustainability/ESG assets
Submissions to the Hackathon must meet the following requirements:

Include a Project built with the required developer tools and meets the above Project Requirements.

Include a text description that should explain the features and functionality of your Project. The text description should include:

Policy description
-
Workflow description
-
Comparative analysis to similar methodologies (Optional, but encouraged)

Include a demonstration video of your Project. The video portion of the Submission:

should be less than three (3) minutes
-
should include footage that shows the Project functioning on the device for which it was built
-
should describe the climate action relevance of the Project
-
must be uploaded to and made publicly visible on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook Video, or Youku, and a link to the video must be provided on the submission form on the Hackathon Website; and
-
must not include third party trademarks, or copyrighted music or other material unless the Entrant has permission to use such material.

Must include a pull request into the methodology library for the guardian upon completion with full docs

Optional (but encouraged): Include the URL to a social media post that includes your demonstration video

Is the methodology unique? Note that this doesn't preclude improving a methodology for implementation and completeness. -
Functionality
Does the methodology work as designed? Is it applicable and easy to use? -
Completeness
Does the submission include all of the required elements, including complete documentation, a video explainer, functional helpers, relevant tools, methodology variations, example data, social media post, etc.?
