Following kalium's suggestion for the Mandriva Move problem, I stuffed in pci=noacpi noapic nolapic at the boot prompt.

Unfortunately, this resulted only in an error message about how the module was not found. Trying various combinations of the above ("noacpi", "noapic", "nolapic", "pci=nacpi", "pci=noapic", etc) yielded the same.

Googling is of little help, since the general consensus seems to be to install the damned thing already, which kind of defeats the purpose of using this to test-drive Mandriva Linux.

Anyone with any help?

EDIT: Well, looks like Kotoko has really had her entire HD wiped long before. Therefore, I'm taking this opportunity to install Fedora Core 4.

Still a bit worried about Akari's complete inability to boot from Mandriva Move.

Trying out the new Tag system that requires me to update from the LJ website, since Deepest Sender (my Firefox extension for LJ-updates) (obviously) does not support it yet ("Bastards!" - int, DS creator and maintainer).

So I'll talk about random OS stuff here.
