Good Harbor Beach is one of Gloucester’s most iconic and beloved beaches, offering a wide, flat stretch of soft white sand along the Atlantic Ocean. This family-friendly beach is ideal for walking, sunbathing, body surfing, boogie boarding, and beach volleyball. At low tide, visitors can walk across a sandbar to explore Salt Island, while high tide brings gentle waves perfect for playing in the surf.

The beach is also a favorite among artists, especially during the quieter spring and fall months, when the light and coastal views make it an inspiring setting for Plein Air painting.

Lifeguards are on duty daily from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Restrooms and outdoor showers are available from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Weather conditions may cause facilities to close early.

Good Harbor is part of Gloucester’s Carry In–Carry Out initiative, so visitors are asked to take all trash with them to help preserve the natural beauty of the beach.

The beach is also accessible, with Mobi-Mats providing a stable walkway from the parking lot to the sand—ideal for wheelchairs, strollers, and beach carts

Non-resident beach parking reservations are required during the summer season and can be made online in advance. The lot fills quickly on sunny days, so early arrival, walking, biking, or using a rideshare service is encouraged.

Whether you’re here for a full day in the sun or a peaceful stroll with a paintbrush in hand, Good Harbor Beach offers a classic Cape Ann experience with something for everyone.
