Inspiration

We realized that there are many social apps available but the barrier to entry is considerably high as it requires users to go through the typical nuances of setting up and getting used to a new interface. By running a telegram, this barrier is essentially non existent. Users can enjoy a hassle free experience connecting with other individuals with shared interest. We got our inspiration from the recently trending nuschatterbot which received many complains for being a platform for Chads, thirsty NSFs and Gym Bros. This makes the experience for people who are looking for genuine connections very unpleasant. Similar interest provides people with a common topic they can actually talk about makes the whole experience more wholesome and enjoyable

What it does

The bot, SgInterestBot links people anonymously, based on their interest which they specify to the bot beforehand. If users enjoy talking to one another, they can exchange telegram handles via the bot and continue the conversation without the assistance of the bot

How we built it

We coded the bot in python and used the python telegram bot framework.

Challenges we ran into

Because it was our first project, we had to learn everything from scratch. The workshops really streamlined our whole learning which enabled us to deliver a working product

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This is the first project we have done and we were quite doubtful about completing it. Nonetheless, we managed to pull through and made something we really can consider our own
