Inspiration

The team at The SEED comes from families that have many small businesses. We have seen the struggle firsthand of trying to handle all of the responsibilities that come with having your own business, and we wanted to invent a solution that could ease this anxiety. We understand how stressful and unpredictable running a business can be on your own, which is why with our services, you won't have to. Our team is extremely dedicated to the cause of helping small business owners achieve their goals, and we hope that will have a positive impact on the small business industry. We want to people feel more motivated to become entrepreneurs because they will feel more confident that they are able to do it.

What it does

Our goal at The SEED is to help small businesses/companies succeed and reach their full potential. When working with us, we will help manage your business expenses, inventory, consumer profiles, employees, advertisements, etc. We will accomplish this by using our thoroughly tested, user-friendly programs that keep track of all of the important aspects of your company. Not only will we help manage your business, but we also will allow you to connect with other businesses through our forum found on our website.

How we built it

We used Wix and Replit to make this project possible. Wix is a software company that provides cloud-based web development services. We utilized it to make a fully functioning website that includes multiple pages, a chat box to interact with our clients, a list of all our services, and a forum for our clients to interact with each other. We also utilized Replit to create a fully functioning program that keeps track of company expenses, inventory, and advertisements.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge we ran into was time. Due to this being a timed competition, we weren't left with a lot of time to accomplish all we wanted to get done. To combat this problem, we decided to divide up the different parts of the project to different. Sam Scalera and Nate Rogoff focused more on the software engineering side of the project, while Isabella DiGioia and Cassidy Pry focused more on the functionality of the website for our company.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are extremely proud of how much quality work and progress we were able to get done over the past 24 hours. While we do feel that our idea had a lot of potential and was a good idea to build off of, we feel that the functionality we were able to accomplish is way more impressive. Not only were we able to make a website with a working forum and chat box, but we were also able to write code that stores and organizes a lot of complex information.

What we learned

We learned how to use Wix. Wix was confusing at first and left us feeling like we might not have been able to figure it out, but once we took the time to learn it, we actually came out with a website we are very proud of.

What's next for The SEED

What's next for The SEED is to actually make this company concept a reality. We learned during this process that creating a program that keeps track of company data is actually something obtainable for us. The small business industry is something that we would actually be interested in being a part of in the future.
