Inspiration

We were trying to make a project that would, in the end, be able to positively affect a large group of individuals. That's when it dawned upon us, why not help people who are around our age! We realized that coming into college, freshmen are often stumped as to how to find a study schedule that allows them to be the most efficient while having the most fun possible. That caused us to develop StudySync, an application that allows students to be able to most effectively plan their day, given classes and events.

What it does

  • Retrieve the amount of study time necessary for a class
  • Calculate the gap between two classes in order to allow for adequate planning
  • Retrieve daily time

Challenges we ran into

As this was the first time the three of us ever even saw Prolog, there was a massive learning curve in regards to understanding how to implement basic things we wanted to do. This caused us to spend a lot of time doing research and consulting with the mentors. In addition to this, first figuring out the logic necessary for the application also took a very long time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are very proud of what we made, as it was our first time working with Prolog. We were able to code an impactful application in a new language from the ground up, which was most certainly an accomplishment on our end.

What we learned

We learned how to quickly learn and adapt to a new language in a short period of time.

What's next for StudySync

  • The ability to generate study schedules given tests/quizzes.
  • Being able to incorporate different club events/hobbies.
  • The ability to use different study techniques, such as pomodoro.
