Inspiration
Studying for long hours can lead to burnout, making it hard to stay motivated. We wanted to create a fun and interactive way to encourage healthy study habits while maintaining balance. Inspired by virtual pet games and productivity apps, NeuroPet helps users manage their workload while taking care of their well-being.
What it does
NeuroPet is a study companion that grows as you complete tasks. It features a functional to-do list, a pomodoro timer, and a mood tracker. If tasks pile up, NeuroPet reminds you to pace yourself, promoting a sustainable study routine.
How we built it
We developed NeuroPet using Unity and C#. The UI was created with Unity’s UI Toolkit, and we implemented task management, timers, and mood tracking with structured game logic. We focused on an intuitive interface to make studying engaging and stress-free.
Challenges we ran into
- Time constraints: Balancing features within 24 hours was challenging.
- UI/UX design: Making the interface both functional and visually appealing was challenging at first as we were using Unity for the first time.
- Task management logic: Ensuring task limits and reminders worked smoothly took debugging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Successfully integrating a working task manager, pomodoro timer, and mood tracker.
- Creating a cute and engaging study companion that supports well-being.
- Building a functional MVP within the hackathon timeframe.
What we learned
- How to effectively implement UI in Unity.
- The importance of prioritizing features in a short development cycle.
- Strategies for making study tools engaging and burnout-friendly.
