Inspiration

Education is a universal area that can apply to anyone. It is the basis of everything all the way from reading a book to creating innovative solutions to fighting world problems. As students, we all have to deal with problems such as reading long, monotonous texts and finding the right methods to help us study for our upcoming tests. Therefore, we created this website in order to help our educational community thrive!

What it does

This 2 in 1 study website was created to assist our fellow peers in their academics. Our notes and text summarization tool helps make long notes and lectures into a concise form. Additionally, our resource finder is a one-stop shop to find everything you need to better educate yourself on topics you want to study. We are confident this website has the potential to better prepare students for tests and overall, increase self-confidence and preparedness. For your personal experience, our website contains a light and dark mode feature.

How we built it

EduTools is designed to automate boring processes as a student. For instance, taking long lecture notes or studying for tests. EduTools is unique because it consists of an AI-powered note summarizer and resource finder. To build this app, we used Next.js, React.js, Typescript, CSS, HTML5, and multiple AI Powered APIs. These APIs combine NLP and AI for a truly awesome experience.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges we ran into included, finding APIs to accomplish our needs and accustoming to different languages. For example, to create the different aspects of our website such as finding informative videos and shortening long texts/notes, we researched different APIs that would enable this. Additionally, we used a variety of languages that some of us weren’t familiar with. Therefore, we had to get used to this quickly and also try our best to learn and grow together!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our project reached all the goals we had in mind. Additionally, this project is very helpful to a wide community and we hope that it can be used for driving education to a different level. As beginners, we are happy with the outcome of our project and all the learning experiences that came with it. Not only did the outcome reach all our desires, but it also brought along an immersive experience for all of us.

What we learned

We learned a variety of languages that some of us weren't familiar with. Additionally, we learned how to implement APIs to our website's benefit to reach our goals. Overall, we were able to collaborate on a website with a goal we are all passionate about and learn together as a team.

What's next for EduTools

There's a variety of things we would like to add to EduTools in the future. These include an interactive quiz feature, a study guide feature, and a tutor-match platform. We would like to implement these features as they would level up our website and also reach the needs of even more people! Additionally, it would help spread more educational outreach and methods to help those who need it.
