Inspiration

Inspired by conference workshops and speakers, we created this project to address the need for affordable and sustainable housing in Toronto. We specifically loved discussions on affordable housing and chose to combine it with our personal interests in technology.

How it works

Our program provides an opportunity to implement IoT technology into homes and residential buildings. Our presentation addresses the issue at hand, as well as provides examples, a case study, and analysis of the community impact of the project.

How we built the project

During the 2 days of "hacking" paired with workshop attendance, we mainly built this project through secondary research sources by governments and industry professionals. We were able to get feedback from a mentor and also made the specified changes to strengthen our project.

Challenges

Initially, we found the problem statement and solution space to be incredibly big and intimidating. It was difficult to find an idea/topic that would address environmental, economical and social sustainability. After attending workshops that provided inspiration, we were able to focus on IoT devices for a specific yet impactful solution.
