Inspiration
Currently, teachers are using old-fashioned textbook methods to educate high school students on financial literacy which is not very interesting. They may try to implement more innovative ways of learning but there are not hands-on applications available for teaching personal finance.
What it does
Our solution is a webapp that is designed to help teachers teach investing to their students. We have designed a platform that uses real-time stock data which allows students to manage a trading portfolio using virtual money. The app keeps students engaged with its competitive structure, as students will be able to compare their portfolio growth amongst their classmates. Students will also be able to participate in class quizzes testing them on concepts of financial literacy. High scores on these quizzes will reward students with additional funds to invest in more stocks. As a result, students will be able to learn the principles of investing through a highly engaging form of experiential learning, all without having to incur the risks of trading with real money.
