Inspiration

We were inspired to make Fishodoro when our team united over a common problem we faced in our every day lives- time management. Especially as college students, being able to manage your time efficiently and effectively is a critical skill to success, and we wanted to give others the power to manage their time.

What it does

Fishodoro is a helpful tool that allows users to create and set a Pomodoro timer to help them achieve tasks as productively as they can, reminding them to take a break each time the timer goes off. Pomodoro timers are traditionally set for 20/25 minutes of work and 5 minutes of relaxation, like a tabata workout but friendlier.

How we built it

We built Fishodoro on hopes and dreams! Also laughter, and lots of frustration. Our primary tools were Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, and Generative AI, which we used to make a website based in C#, with lots of HTML (CSHTML), CSS for styling, and JavaScript for functionality.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into challenges especially in programming the functionality of the different elements of our website. Once we designed the functionality of our buttons and features, connecting the icons we had designed was an additional challenge that proved quite notable.

Setting up this project was a huge challenge for me personally, since I was the only Mac user, and the only Visual Studio Code user. It took me two hours to learn that a simple extension for VS Code and the right .NET downloads was all I needed. -SG

Accomplishments that we're proud of

In making Fishodoro, we were most proud of our ability to learn how to do this on the fly, especially since 3/4 of us have never done a hackathon before. I'd personally like to point out my 3 teammates have never programmed anything in HTML or CSS, and I'm proud to have watched their their skills transform over this weekend. -SG

What we learned

The biggest thing I learned was how to use html practically and connect frontend and backend on the fly. I have never worked with multiple languages at the same time before and it was very interesting teaching myself how to do it, especially since c# isn't typically used for this type of development. -CD

What's next for Fishodoro

In the future, we'd love to see Fishodoro become a real website that can help people around the world do more with their lives, easier. we might even submit it to a domain to get it started!
