Overview
As part of the Kapwa Codefest, we are helping the The Filipino Apostolate Of The Archdiocese Of Boston redesign/revamp their organization's website.
What it does
This project aims to migrate their current website's information to a more user-friendly custom website featuring a mass schedule, blog archive, photo gallery, and more.
How we built it
This project uses React and Bootstrap for the frontend and a Python Django backend. We are also implementing the Google Blogger API.
Challenges we ran into
- Learning new technologies for the first time such as React, Django, and integrating APIs :o
- Many, many Google Auth errors
- Trouble with the Google Calendar, Photos, and Gmail APIs
- Merge conflicts
- Implementing a dropdown to filter blog archive posts
- Managing and organizing our code while being aware of the deadlines
- Being able to make fast decisions
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Learning new technologies for the first time such as React, Django, and integrating APIs :)
- Successfully connecting the Blogger API to our app
- Implementing some end-to-end features
