Inspiration
We wanted to provide students with motivation to do their homework, and the best way to do that is provide them with an incentive, video game currency. We felt this would be the best way to encourage students to learn and put effort into their academics without sacrificing enjoyment. We feel that we could've used this as students ourselves to improve our time in school, but we couldn't find such a thing, so we decided to create it ourselves.
What it does
Our rewards system rewards users with points for practicing problems and provides them with an incentive to strive for better performance. Points are proportional to accuracy and can be redeemed for currency in video games or other items. This system promotes a sense of accomplishment and incentives users to continue learning. It creates a positive feedback loop and is a powerful tool for motivating and encouraging users to pursue their learning goals.
How we built it
We built our project using LiveShare in Visual Studio Code to collaborate. We used HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript to develop our website and bring it to life. This is a proof of concept
Challenges we ran into
Time constraints, technical issues, idea generation, and burnout from working for such long periods of time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Graphic design, productivity, communication.
What we learned
We've learned how to collaborate and work better with people. We also learned how it feels to be part of a business/company.
What's next for EDX Rewards
We want to expand on our proof of concept and get the points systems to work and allow users to redeem rewards.
