Inspiration

Chloris was inspired by a florist owned by one of our team member's parents. Their business is one of thousands across the United States that represent the often overlooked importance of small business for the economy. In order to support these businesses, we decided to build an all-in-one tool to make it as easy as possible for them to manage their business.

What it does

Our innovative software brings together all the tools that the florist business needs to run efficiently. It is a desktop application that helps florists control inventories, create floral arrangements, manage orders, organize deliveries, and much more.

How we built it

We built our tool using full stack development technologies. For our backend, we used both Express and Flask to create APIs that served important functions in our program. For the frontend, we primarily used HTML/CSS/JS with JQuery, creating a dynamic yet aesthetically pleasing user interface for our software.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge we ran into was the amount of complexity and functionality needed to create an all-in-one software. Our application contained a significant level of complexity to accomplish our goal, but in the end we managed to complete the features we wanted to complete, and even some additional features.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have been able to complete our ambitious goal of making an all-in-one desktop application, even though many parts of it were far beyond the level of our previous experience.

What we learned

We gained a significant amount of knowledge and experience, especially when we pursued features that we had no previous experience doing.

What's next for Chloris

Although we were able to pack the application with numerous features, there are still numerous features that could be added or refined in our application to make it truly the best software for florists.
