Friendships deserve more than texts & surprise run-ins. In life, you unintentionally cross paths with friends and never even realize it. Bump is an AI-powered app that helps you connect with friends.

Inspiration

  • Our inspiration came from our own personal experiences with bumping into people we knew. We wanted to build a tool that not only increases interaction amongst humans, but one that also fosters an environment where people are not afraid to build connections with one another. ## What it does
  • Bump allows users to receive notifications and view when friends are within a certain proximity. This encourages social interactions, and can help build and maintain bonds with new and existing people all around us. ## How we built it
  • We built Bump using a wide-range of tools! We used React Native to build the back-end of the code, and used Claude AI to assist us with issues. We used Figma to prototype and build our UI, as well as map out how we wanted our app to look. We are working on integrating Gemini into our app. ## Challenges we ran into
  • We ran into a lot of challenges while trying to debug our code and while trying to redesign our UI to make it more user friendly. We spent a lot of time experimenting with different features and testing interactions between key components, causing us to lose more time making valuable progress. ## Accomplishments that we're proud of
  • We're very proud of our ability to overcome challenges by working together and of creating an app all of us are proud to be apart of. We've bonded a lot as a group during this time, and we're proud to have been able to overcome numerous issues with the code and UI design together. ## What we learned
  • We learned a variety of skills, ranging from more advanced coding methods, to learning how to combine combine user-centered design with our fun ideas! We learned and enhanced a lot of teamwork and communication skills during this time, as well. ## What's next for Bump
  • Although Bump is still in it's early development stages, we hope to incorporate some more secure security measures that make users more comfortable with using our app, as well as some sort of advanced communication method that can be integrated with other third-party apps.
