Our group set out to address a critical issue in the tech industry: creating accessible and innovative solutions for underrepresented communities. Technology should serve everyone, particularly those with unique needs, by providing accommodations that improve their daily lives. This mission led to the creation of AllerSync. In the United States alone, 1 in 3 people suffer from severe allergies, whether it be a skin condition or airborne food allergy. With the features provided by AllerSync, we aim to foster a community of individuals who struggle with allergies, allowing them to find the products and foods they need, converse with a community of similar people, as well as allow our users to scan ingredients lists via a camera scanning feature, which allows for users to examine problem ingredients in more depth. With AllerSync, we aim to simplify life for those living with allergies, offering them the tools and support they need to navigate a world that can often feel limiting.
How We Built It Visualized the app's UX design in FIGMA. We designed a total of 29 different screens and an additional Workflow to create an interactive prototype!
Challenges we ran into As first-year students, our team was unfamiliar with the FIGMA software which provided a valuable learning curve, but as we continued to experiment with different features/functions within the platform, we were able to bring AllerSync to life!
Accomplishments we are proud of Actualizing an idea that is able to serve an unrepresented demographic is one thing our group is particularly proud of. We want to facilitate those with allergies, as well as band together a community of those who suffer with allergies in their daily lives.
What we Learned Our group learned how to use FIGMA to flesh out and visualize the UI/UX Design of our project! We were able to conceptually understand the algorithm behind some of our Cyber Security aspects, as well as the use of API's.
What's Next for AllerSync? We have to expand from working with local business to collaborating which larger companies and their API's, as well as expand our price matching feature to work for more generalized communities.
