Inspiration
A while ago I (Dylan) found a website that shows off intentionally bad user experience regarding input. I found it really funny so wanted to have some functionality like this. My other team members wanted the user interface to be akin to early 2000s websites with colours that don't work well together and confusing layouts in disarray.
What it does
Our website is a mock ecommerce website that basically functions how you wouldn't expect it to. It has frustrating navigation and funny images. The project evolved into more of a comedy site in the end.
How we built it
We used web technologies such as CSS/HTML/Javascript. We split the tasks based on confidence with the technologies as not everyone was comfortable with the whole stack.
Challenges we ran into
The keyboard took a while to implement as it was a bespoke imported feature requiring reading lots of documentation in order to customise it. One of our members made their webpage when they were really zoomed in, so upon returning to the default zoom, the page was really small, meaning they had to resize everything. Keyboard only works on linux and not windows devices for some reason. Making timers was a bit foreign to us so we had difficulty getting them to work We encountered multiple git merge conflict errors, and some other things due to lack of synchronicity between the local repos and remote repo.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We had good time management, as we managed to make the entire project before the deadline. Our teamwork was good, we constantly communicated ideas, and used a joint trello board to stay organised. There was no need to hold other members accountable on their work as everyone put equal effort into bringing our site to life.
What we learned
We now feel a lot more comfortable using a web stack. We also have a better idea of how git works, and how to use git as a team.
What's next for AliEmonzonBaydotcom
Google is next... In all seriousness, we would probably just imeplement more features such as buttons running away from you, or a shipping feature, but you have to give directions to your house from the shipping depot rather than providing an address.
