While our main focus at Deprogram America is fighting against the Christian Nationalists within the GOP and our government, today we want to talk about something these groups share with non-religious fascist movements: an “enemy from within.”
On March 21, 1933, Germany passed the Malicious Practices Act, making it illegal to speak badly of or criticize the Nazi Party or its leaders – but it did more than that.
The law allowed for “preventative custody” of any groups that the Nazis disliked. It was used primarily against the homeless, drug addicts, unfaithful women, LGBT people, religious minorities, and Jewish people. These groups could be arrested without having ever been heard criticizing the regime.
This law also introduced “protective custody,” similar to preventative custody but aimed at the party’s left-leaning political opponents and anyone who failed to comply with Hitler’s ideology.
The stated goal was to rid Germany of its “oppressors” and “enemies,” and to “protect the state.” The real purpose was to eliminate other political parties and non-traditional families, and secure Germany as a fascist state.

We thought you should know about the Malicious Practices Act because of some recent comments from Donald Trump and the Republican Party. Comments like:
In four years you don’t have to vote, okay? In four years, don’t vote… We’ll have it all straightened out so it’ll be much different. –Donald Trump, 6/22/2024
We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be. –Kevin Roberts, Project 2025, 7/2/2024
When I win, those people that cheated will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, which will include long-term prison sentences [for] lawyers, political operatives, donors… [They] will be sought out, caught, and prosecuted at levels, unfortunately, never seen before in our Country. –Donald Trump, 9/7/2024
There is this creeping socialism in our [public schools,] radical organizations that are poisoning the minds of our kids. –JD Vance, 9/28/2024
We have to let the police do their job, and they have to be extraordinarily rough… If you had one really violent day… And I mean real rough. The word will get out. And it will end immediately. –Donald Trump, 9/29/2024
I think the bigger problem is the enemy from within… We have some sick people: radical left lunatics. It should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by the National Guard, or if really necessary, by the military. –Donald Trump, 10/13/2024
Let’s put her (Liz Cheney) with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK? And let’s see how she feels about it, you know, when the guns are trained on her face. –Donald Trump, 10/31/2024
The Malicious Practices Act would be the worst law Donald Trump could enact, except he has something Hitler didn’t: presidential immunity.
Our Supreme Court’s Federalist Society justices made it almost impossible to hold Trump accountable for any crime he commits as president. He doesn’t need a law to take us out.
Project 2025 calls for Trump to send the military and law enforcement into Democrat-majority cities and start making arrests under the Insurrection Act.
Trump will have more authority to give his regime absolute power than Hitler had. There will not be a Malicious Practices Act. There will only be malicious practices ordered by Donald Trump.
After all these years, Democrats have failed to hold Trump accountable, and they’ve barely touched on the religious extremists behind the Project 2025 agenda.
Those extremists will still be here after Trump, attacking our freedoms and democracy inside Congress and state legislatures with their next mascot in the White House.
In this together,
Deprogram America
