Teaching

Overview

I won the Engineering Educator of the Year Award from the Saskatoon Engineering Society in 2012 and the Provost’s Award for Outstanding Teaching in the College of Engineering in 2013. I received the Master Teacher Award from the University of Saskatchewan at the Spring 2022 Convocation.

Mechanical Engineering Program

Students enter our Mechanical Engineering program after completing a common First Year program. Entry to Mechanical Engineering is competitive based on grades from first year and the number of available seats. The Mechanical Engineering program is taken in the next three years, and has a traditional curriculum containing core classes in thermal-fluids, solid mechanics, materials science, manufacturing, and control systems; mathematics and natural science classes; engineering design courses in all three years of the program; two dedicated laboratory classes; and a diverse selection of technical electives taken in fourth year. Students also complete several complementary studies courses. In the two-term capstone design project course in fourth year, students work with industrial and external clients on real-world design problems. Many students in Mechanical Engineering complete one or more paid internships in industry through the Engineering Cooperative Internship Program.
