Data Interoperability Extension by Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (Esri) is an add-on for ArcGIS that streamlines how you access, convert, and transform spatial and tabular data across disparate systems. Powered by Safe Software’s FME technology, it provides a no-code/low-code, visual environment for building repeatable ETL (extract, transform, and load) workflows that preserve data integrity while reducing manual effort.

Key capabilities:

• Broad format support: Read and write hundreds of vector, raster, CAD/BIM, database, and open/web formats, including CAD (DWG/DXF/DGN), BIM (IFC/Revit), databases (PostGIS, Oracle, SQL Server), OGC services (WFS), LiDAR (LAS), and common GIS formats (File Geodatabase, Shapefile, GeoJSON, GML).
• Visual spatial ETL: Design drag-and-drop workflows to map schemas, reproject coordinates, validate and repair geometry, and enrich attributes—without coding.
• Quick conversion tools: Use Quick Import and Quick Export for fast, one-time data conversions.
• Direct access to nonnative data: Create interoperability connections to view and use external formats directly in ArcGIS.
• Automation and sharing: Package ETL as geoprocessing tools, run them in ModelBuilder or with Python, batch process large jobs, schedule runs in ArcGIS Pro, and publish workflows to ArcGIS Enterprise when licensed for server use.
