Autumn Pages
Darlene Reilley
(free verse—not from a collection, but a gentle invitation)
When the leaves turn to whispers of gold,
and the air wraps around you in a gentle fold,
there’s a story waiting by a fire’s warm glow,
a world of words where your soul can grow.
In the hush of the season, in a moment you find,
let Desert’s Reflections stir your mind.
Where the sun meets sand and shadows play,
enjoy a dance of thoughts at the end of the day.
Inky Echoes calls you back to the heart,
to the roots of our stories, the heart of worth.
Home and identity in each line you’ll trace,
like leaves returning to their timeless place.
Poetry from the Heart is more than a phrase,
it's a warm mug to carry through crisp autumn days.
Pour a cup and sit a while, letting your spirits soar,
in each line, you’ll find a little bit more.
And for those who seek strength, a fire to ignite,
Life, Liberty, and the Rest of It shines bright.
A beacon on the hill, a voice rings clear,
a celebration of freedom, courage, and good cheer.
The Spiral of Life is poetry with a pulse,
a blanket for burnouts and brave hearts.
Meander through grief, wonder, and firelight.
Come spiraling—you’ll find yourself here.
So come, dear reader, as the chill begins,
wrap yourself in words and let a journey begin.
With pages of stories and poetry bright,
you’ll find solace in autumnal light.

These poems draw power from silence, sand, and survival—echoes of heat, hope, and healing in wide open spaces.

For anyone balancing patriotism with personal reflection, this collection explores the complexities of modern American life. Through poems that delve into identity, resilience, and the pursuit of meaning, it offers a heartfelt journey through the contemporary experience.

For anyone who’s ever wrestled with faith, fallen too fast, or laughed at love anyway.

What if healing doesn’t happen in straight lines? This poetry collection spirals through joy, rage, stillness, and everything in between. For anyone recovering from burnout, heartbreak, or too many late nights staring at the ceiling.

From Desert Reflections:
South Rim at Dusk
In the heart of the desert's embrace,
South Rim's dwellers find their place.
Amidst tourists' hustle, they toil and strive,
beneath the vast desert sky, they thrive.
When dusk descends, their labor done,
they tread the rim beneath the setting sun.
In whispered breeze and starlit sight,
they find solace in the canyon's might.

Grand Canyon Whispers
In Darlene's world,
where words hold sway,
ink flows in a mesmerizing display.
Through pages spun,
her stories convey,
a literary exploration, night and day.
Beneath desert skies,
my words unfold,
Grand Canyon whispers,
stories bold.
“Desert Reflections,”
a treasure to hold,
in each verse, a journey,
beautifully told.

From The Spiral of Life
Interstellar Love Song
Like a wanderer in the night, searching for my way,
he's my anchor, in this vast astral bay.
Though I’m part goddess, and he’s just a man,
in his arms, I’ve found where I stand.
Interstellar love, through the galaxies we roam,
his touch guides me, to places unknown.
In his eyes, I see my destiny,
bound by love, forever free.
Through the battles and the tears, he’s by my side,
in his love, I find my strength to abide.
From the peaks of home to lands of myth,
with him, I’ll weather every cosmic shift.
Interstellar love, through the galaxies we roam,
his touch guides me, to places unknown.
In his eyes, I see my destiny,
bound by love, forever free.
In the face of doubt and fear, he’s my light,
with him, I’ll conquer any cosmic fight.
With every heartbeat, our souls entwine,
in this interstellar love, forever mine.
Interstellar love, through the galaxies we roam,
his touch guides me, to places unknown.
In his eyes, I see my destiny,
bound by love, forever free.
In this vast expanse, where stars collide,
our love will endure, side by side.

(free verse—not from a collection)
I want to breathe to the beat of life
but busy, busy, busy like bees.
This hamster runs
Class. Exercise. Study. Work.
The never-ending productivity is a toxin to me.
I pull back, hide my face, try to slow down, and not race.
But there is only antsy time, all I’ve got is work…
Cook. Exercise. Study. Sleep.
Cook. Exercise. Study. Sleep.
Pause, Hamster. Before you break.
Stretch left. Stretch right. Pause.
Meditate.
Choose one fun thing to look forward to every day.
Return to the curiosity you forgot
because you are the main character in this story.
Be You.

We the Explorers
Darlene Reilley
(free verse—a poem I wrote for the NASA OSIRIS-Rex Challenge. It launched into space aboard the mission, traveled millions of miles to Bennu...and came home.)
Asteroids tumble through space and time
and may hold answers we seek to find:
who are we? where do we come from? where are we going?
From Earth we look up
into the vastness of space
and wonder can we step away
from this solitary home?
Dreamers strive to reach stars
Explorers seek to touch Bennu
which may hold answers
to the origin of life.
Practically we may be able to
explore natural near-Earth resources
and to learn what can
to help the people of tomorrow
mitigate hazardous impacts
We seek to know
facts about the fundamentals of life
it is our honor to seek soul-stirring questions.
It is our duty to do what we can
to help the people of tomorrow
so that humanity may live longer than two more centuries.
