I wrote this for Tumblr but since Kiddo suggested we could give LJ another try this this year, I thought I'd also post it here.
My Writing Year in Review
Number of stories posted: 1 multi-chapter WIP, 4 one shots, 5 drabbles
Words written: approx. 12,000 (published)
Pairings written: Shawn/Hunter (WWE)
In the works: 1 approx. 12-chapter story (10 written already), 1 probably 3-chapter story (2 written already), 2 more chapters already written for the current WIP
Not so bad after getting rid of the writing rust after 9 years, I'd say. There are vague plans to maybe pick up some of my old abandoned WIPs again from many moons ago, maybe sit down and work on another multi-chapter story idea I've been toying with for, like, ever... and flesh out some of the random notes and thoughts I've put down in my notebook over these past few months. We'll see what will really come into fruition this year, right?
In the meantime, if anyone wants to play catch up, here are links to all the stories I worked on in 2021. Enjoy! :)

Aren't holidays the most boring thing ever? /random
I know I said I'd type down some notes on my recent trip, but I just cannot be bothered. Plus, I'm boring you guys with all that concert stuff anyway, don't I?
Tomorrow I'll be back on the road so not sure when I'll get around to posting again.

I'm still slacking... But hey, I figure not too many are around at the moment anyway.
Constance was nice. Unfortunately I didn't see too much of the city as it was already dark by the time I was properly settled at my hotel and I never really do sightseeing on the day of a concert. However, I enjoyed the gig - much more than the acoustic show the previous week. It was a shame that only about 100 fans were there, though. :-/
This past week has been kinda slow... except for too many people bugging the hell out of me. But what else is new?
Tomorrow my cousin will be in town and Mom and I will have dinner with him at the Hard Rock Cafe. Really looking forward to that. I don't see him all that often - and I love Hard Rock Cafes. ;-)
Oh, and Sunday will hopefully be REALLY cool. If everything goes according to plan, I'm finally, finally gonna get to meet KEVIN NASH! So if you never hear from me again, I've died and gone to heaven. Or ran off into the sunset with him. ;-) I've been a huge fan of him since I was a kid so naturally I'm all excited. He'll be at a convention in Dortmund and even though I'm not big on paying for photos or autographs, I'll just HAVE to go see him. Wish me luck that I'll really get my photo. It's been quite a long time since I've been at a con so I'm curious how this one will go. By the way, Brian Krause, who played Leo on "Charmed", will also be there. I'll probably be too cheap to pay for a photo with him, but it might be nice to see him at least - now that I've finally started watching "Charmed" after all these years. *lol*
On a side note... I think I'll give up on the music meme. It takes me too long and nobody really cares, right? ;-)

Day 16. A song that you used to love but now hate:
Quite frankly, I don't think there is one. However, there's a band... Now, hate is too strong of a word. I wouldn't even go as far as to say that I dislike them. I'm talking about Bon Jovi here. I used to LOVE that band SO much as a teenager and young twen. But... things have changed a lot. I don't care about them anymore at all, which is sad, but... just how things go sometimes. There's something about Jon Bon Jovi's voice that extremely gets on my nerves these days. Not always, but a lot of times. Sometimes it makes me wonder why I used to like it so much. So... I figured I'd choose one of their songs.
Okay, I've never been particularly fond of this song to begin with, but it's definitely one of those songs that bugs me nowadays. But then, I've always liked the pre-Crush stuff better than everything that came afterwards.

Well, usually I don't really like female singers and I'm not big on actors-turned-singers, either. Oh, and I've never seen the movie this song was written for.
But there's something I like about this song. I don't know why.

Well, today's theme is a little hard because usually I'm confident enough at this point in my life to not pretend I don't like a song when I actually do. So this isn't quite a secret or guilty pleasure per se, but it may suprise some.
Day 13. A song that is a guilty pleasure:
I'm not much into schmaltzy songs and I really cannot stand Jeanette Biedermann. (Okay, she seems nice enough as a person, but her music is too girly for my liking. Plus, ever since early 2012 there are... well, other issues. *cough*) Either way, I like this song. I like the lyrics, I like the duet as a whole... And as I mentioned before, I'm a sucker for that Irish accent. I gotta admit, I like Ronan Keating's voice in general. Too bad that a lot of his solo songs are still too Boyzone-like or too... I don't know... I don't like the modern dance-disco-pop type of sound in some of them. His normal pop ballads are fine by me.
By the way, there's even another version of the song without Ronan, I like quite a bit:
Jörg Weisselberg... *thud* He's a hottie, isn't he? Great voice and one amazing guitar player. Too bad he picked the wrong band so it's unlikely I'll see him live again anytime soon. He's such a nice guy, too, by the way.

Oh dear... There are *so* many. I know most lyrics by heart when I like the band/the song. So... Let's pick one at random... *turns on Windows Media Player* Ahem... yeah. I swear, that really was the first song that popped up. Some of my favorite lyrics, though, too - so that helps. ;-)
And to prevent anyone from complaining... Here's also an English song. ;-)
(That one will probably always by my favorite Bon Jovi song, by the way.)
*lol* And I just realized that both lyrics are completely different - the German one's deep and the English one is your typical boy meets girl story. Ah well...

Happy Anniversary! *lol* Or something... ;-)
My Facebook flist is full of love today and all I see is the number of the beast 666 6. It amuses me more than I thought it would. I wonder if a certain someone has his FB alert activated on his iPhone... If yes, I feel for him. *giggle*
So what is this all about you may wonder? Nothing major to be honest. Not for most people. Actually, I just went back to my January postings from 2008 and apart from a side note, there was barely a mention.
I usually don't watch "trash tv" - and yeah, here in Germany casting shows mostly fall into that category. However, 6 years ago today was the day before my oral exam at my vocational college and I did anything to occupy my mind with meaningless stuff so I wouldn't have to think about that exam. This led to me actually watching "Pop Idol". They were still showing the mostly horrible auditions of talentless people - until this guy came along. He caught my eye straight away because there was just something about him. Then he started singing... "Fairytale Gone Bad" by Sunrise Avenue... and absolutely blew me away! I remember saying to my mom that he'll never make it to the next round because he could actually sing. *lol* When he did, I told her that she'd have to let me know when he's on TV next time because I needed to see how far he'd get. Well, who would've thought he'd win the damn thing?
Fastforward 6 years and he's still here. Still living his dream. Still touring.
And I'm still along for the ride, enjoying every minute of it.

So... Had a good time in Recklinghausen yesterday. Lovely afternoon with my friend Inge that consisted of lots of chatting, some shopping, good food and one of the best hot white chocolate in one of my favorite cafés. Afterwards we met up with our friend Bine and headed to the Altstadtschmiede to see Sunset on Mars and SoulBreed, which are both local bands I like. When Sunset on Mars played, the place was packed and they really played a great gig. For SoulBreed it was sort of a showcase for their new acoustic cd - and I gotta admit, I didn't enjoy it as much as their "normal" set. It was still good, but a little boring at times. Or maybe I'm just spoiled. ;-) Anyhow, we had tons of fun and that's all that matter, right?
One thing, though. Well, actually two... Alcohol at concert venues should be forbidden. Drunk people are so very annoying. And what's even more annoying is when you listen to an unplugged show and half the venue is CONSTANTLY talking. Hell, take it outside if you wanna chat! That was the rudest thing ever if you ask me.
Afterwards, Bine, Inge and I went to a restaurant nearby for some cocktails. Yum.
Really, I had such a good time. The three of us agreed that we should definitely do that more often.

Been quiet again - but only for a few days this time around. That's okay, right?
A friend of mine came over on Friday and in the evening we went to see Das Dynamische Duo - Jeans and Olli of Bounce, which is THE German Bon Jovi tribute band. Usually when they perform as DDD, they also do other songs, but since it was sort of a warm-up acoustic gig for the Bounce show they did the next day, the set mainly consisted of Bon Jovi songs. I gotta admit, by now I like Olli's voice much better than Jon Bon Jovi's.
Yesterday I went to Holiday On Ice with my mom. Not quite my thing, but my mom loves it, always has. The things you do for your family, right? It was alright and the figure skaters were pretty impressive... I was still glad when I could go home, though. Part of the reason for that was probably that I've been fighting a cold since Thursday. Still am, actually. :-( Hope I'll feel better by Friday, because I'm really looking forward to Thomas Godoj's acoustic gigs next weekend.
Work also starts again tomorrow. What can I say but meh?

Happy New Year!
Hope you had a good start into 2014. Mine was alright - a little boring but a thing or two amused me quite a bit in the end. Plus, the fireworks were also pretty nice again this time. Who would've thought?
Some lyrics that I think fit pretty well to start things off:

| Concerts 2013 |

You know, with 2013 coming to an end, I was wondering... What were your fave concerts this year? My top 3 in no particular order: Thomas Godoj's acoustic show in Cologne ("Dächer einer ganzen Stadt" unplugged... *thud*), his summer gig in Solingen ( \m/ ) - and without a doubt that mindblowing Skillet concert in Cologne. Honorary mention, of course, also goes to my Fozzy boys. Wish I'd seen them more often this year. *sobs* And here's to hope Alter Bridge's touring schedule will be more convenient for me next time around, too. And I'm so beyond happy I discovered the great, great music of JoshAndSteve this year. So... What about you?

I don't do New Year's resolutions - but I've just finished saving the past ten years (I can't even believe I've had this journal that long already!) of my life on LJ and realized all the more that I miss all of this. Posting about my ordinary life, about the extraordinary concerts and events I attend, sharing funny stories, pictures, interacting with all of you... Simply everything I've always loved about this place.
I really have no idea how many of you guys on my flist are still active - probably not many - but I'd really like to get back into posting more regularly. So... here's to hope 2014 will be filled with lots of pointless postings by yours truly. ;-)
