Today I learned that one of our favorite Daniel/Vala fanfic authors @spiletta42 has passed away.

In 2018.

TODAY I logged into my Tumblr (which I hadn't done since 2018) & noticed unread Messages from qtheallpowerful dated 27 Nov 2018. She kindly let me know that Spi passed away 1 July 2018. The obituary mentions this:

...she wrote many stories about Star Trek, Stargate SG-1, Buffy the Vampire Killer and Roswell. She was prolific in her writings and had just finished writing a fantasy novel the day before she passed away.

In spiletta42's memory, here's a list of all her Daniel/Vala fics on AO3 (her website is no more & her domain name is up for sale). Great timing to be in the City of Light!

Michael Shanks and Joe Flanigan sit down for an audience question-and-answer session at the Paris Manga Sci-Fi Show #30 Stargate Panel on the 7th of November this year -- just days after the Climate Talks in Glasgow at the top of this month. (This is relevant in one of Joe Flanigan's answers to a fan's question.) And mere days ahead of VPotUS Kamala Harris visiting Paris, which probably made airport security extra delightful for jet-lagged actors (especially Shanks, who just wrapped up a Zoom reading of an AI-generated script with Amanda Tapping, David Hewlett, & Jewell Stait.

Half of the video is in French (obviously), which might distract from the truly funny answers in English and barely adequate French that Joe attempts. And the background noise of other panels at the venue makes for difficult listening sometimes. So behind the cut, I laboriously attempted a transcript of the video. Francophones and English grammarians alike are more than welcome to correct my inadequate French and English. Leave a comment & I'll edit as necessary!

After, uh, a decade and a half? I finally changed this community's banner, in no small part due to the 2017 Photobucket implosion (How Photobucket Broke the Internet and Why You Should Care). The original owner of this community naturally wouldn't pay Photobucket's $400 ransom to continue hosting fandom pix which previously had been of no charge. So now we no longer have to look at that janky Photobucket placeholder image.
