Ok, so....
6 chapters finished on the H/D gift fic that is now 4 months late! I SUCK! (but I love this story (and more importantly, so does saladbats), so I hope that I'll eventually be forgiven!)

I've been watching/catching up on a few shows/fandoms that needed to be caught:

BBC Sherlock - check
Orange is the New Black - check

Trek: Into Darkness - check
The Hobbit 1&2 - check, check
Teen wolf - CHECK!
Downton Abbey - check
Supernatural - halfway through season 8 (which I need to do before I go on vacation with Misha Collins!)
The 4400 - gave up on. (I watched 1 and 1/2 seasons and then ran out of steam)
Doctor Who - plugging away (on series 3 at the present)
Call the Midwife - beginning. (watched episode 1 last night)
*Oh, and I'm on the last Sookie Stackhouse novel! I'll miss Sookie.

I really don't want to go back to work after such a nice break, but paying bills is nice! :D

I hope everyone had a great holiday, and if not, I hope the rest of 2014 treats you better!

So, anyone have any inspiration for the new year? I've decided to choose a word to help me focus my attitude and goals. I've picked the word, PLAY! I'm going to try to make 2014 the year to enjoy everything - work, home and even the stuff I don't really like.

I'll tell you how it goes!

(Also, I have a new fic in the works, and I'm hoping to wrap it up soon!)

Got the prompt I wanted for the kink fest! I'm so super excited! I can't tell you which one, but I can tell you it'll be a pairing that I often write in a universe I've never written in. Weee! If you feel like grabbing a prompt and joining in, do eeet!

Ok, so... I have been reading some fics in a 'verse that I didn't really know existed until recently. I kind of had a hankering to try writing something in that universe, but I really didn't have a reason to until I was made aware of this:




and THEN... I find two prompts that are a perfect fit for the universe and kink I wanted to write. Oh, hell. Since the last fest I was involved in was in 2009, it might be time to challenge myself again. (or am I wearing the crazy pants?)

Just wanted to share with you these recs for Misplaced Memories

Why I loved it: This fic has it all! The feels are there and there is a bit of angst to satisfy those like me who thrive on that stuff. The fluffy ending more than makes up for it for those who are less into hardship!fics. She sets up Harry and Draco's relationship in the beginning and after Harry loses his memories, she brings us along with Harry in discovering why and how he and Draco are so well suited. But trauma like Harry's experienced doesn't get better and dissipate as easily as other injuries, and they have some additional growing and discovering to do even after his memories are restored. It's well worth the trip.

This is such a lovely memory loss story. Harry has lost 18 years of memories after an attack in the field, and he wakes up, in the mind of a ten year old, not knowing why he's so 'big'. And there's Draco, who is his Healer and his husband, trying to help, but at the same time afraid he might do more damage to Harry's already fragile state. And on top of this he's also dealing with the people who attacked Harry in the first place. It is dramatic, but lovely, too, because as Harry starts remembering we get to see pieces, moments of the life Harry and Draco built together. I loved Harry and Draco's relationship here, you can tell they have something real and strong, and you're cheering for them to get pass this.
