First veterinarian completes Mizzou’s innovative mixed animal internship
Rural communities need veterinarians who can care for everything from household pets to livestock. As the first graduate of Mizzou’s mixed animal rotating internship, Sam Hoover is helping demonstrate how a new approach to veterinary training can strengthen the workforce, expand access to care and prepare veterinarians for the demands of mixed animal practice.

Mizzou leads the charge to protect Missouri’s $4 billion cattle industry from tick threats
Researchers in the College of Veterinary Medicine are leading a multi-state effort to better understand and combat the spread of invasive ticks that threaten cattle health. By tracking emerging tick populations and the diseases they carry, the team is developing tools to help producers identify risks earlier and respond more effectively, protecting animal health and strengthening Missouri's livestock industry.
