ICP x Quantum Leap Labs: Ride the Blockchain
This track is an open invitation for developers to showcase how they can use ICP’s unique features creatively. The aim is to highlight projects that could demonstrate the practical utility of Web 3 in various applications, pushing the boundaries of what is possible on the blockchain technology.
Requirements for the ICP challenge completion:
Build on the ICP mainnet (request cycles in the HackMIT Blockchain ICP Challenge)
Deploy a backend canister smart contract
Build original code using an ICP feature (ECDSA, HTTP Outcall, ckBTC, ckETH, etc.)
Prize: $1,000 in ICP token for the best project using ICP.
Best Security Hack (1Password Challenge)
Create an innovative security-focused project that addresses a critical cybersecurity challenge. Your project could focus on any area within cybersecurity, such as vulnerability detection, data protection, network security, or privacy enhancements.
Examples include developing an AI-powered tool for malware analysis, building a decentralized application for secure file sharing, or implementing a system for real-time threat detection using open-source intelligence.
Participants are encouraged to submit a demo video showcasing their solution in action, along with a comprehensive README file detailing the technology stack and the unique features of their security solution.
Prize: The prize includes a 1 year free of 1Password Families, awarded to up to 5 teams for secure storage of logins, 2FA, credit cards, and more. There are 20 redemptions available for 20 winners/participants, as 1Password would love to see students benefit from securing their online lives.
Wolfram Community Challenge
Wolfram Research is providing access to their latest technology, Wolfram|One!
Prize: If you use the Wolfram|One API in your project and post it on the Wolfram Community, you will be eligible for a $500 scholarship to a 2025 Wolfram Summer Program if you apply to, and are accepted, to one of their programs. More details are below.

Side Quest #1: Most complicated implementation of "Hello World"
This challenge is all about pushing the boundaries of simplicity by making the humble "Hello World" program as complex as possible. Participants are encouraged to use unconventional methods, obscure programming languages, or intricate multi-step processes to achieve the goal of displaying "Hello World." Whether it’s through complex algorithms, layered dependencies, or creative use of low-level languages, the aim is to transform this basic program into a masterpiece of complexity. The more convoluted, the better—extra points for creativity, innovation, and the level of skill required!
Prize: LexonElec Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
Side Quest #2: Most Useless Hack
In this challenge, the goal is to create something hilariously pointless yet brilliantly executed. Think of a hack that doesn’t solve any real-world problem but showcases creativity, technical skill, or sheer absurdity. Whether it’s a button that does nothing, an app that responds in bizarre ways, or an overly complex gadget with no practical function, the aim is to embrace the art of uselessness. The more absurd, the better—extra points for originality, humor, and commitment to the hack’s lack of purpose!
Prize: Surprise Lego Sets
Hackerdex Challenge
Go around the village and add hackers to your Hackerdex. You need to have the most number of hackers in your Hackerdex to win this challenge.
Prize: Will be revealed at the closing ceremony
