Official Rules — CSHub Local Hack Day

1. Eligibility

  • Participation is open to students, recent graduates, and professionals.

  • Teams of up to 4 members (solo entries allowed).

  • Each team member must register individually on Devpost.

  • Entrants must comply with the official Code of Conduct of MLH.

2. Important Dates

  • Registration link: https://events.mlh.io/events/13198-cshub-hack-day

  • Hacking starts: 9:00 AM, Nov 23, 2025

  • Project submission deadline: 11:59 PM, Nov 23, 2025

  • Winners announced: discord, Nov 24, 2025

3. Project Requirements

  • Projects must be created during the hackathon timeframe (Nov 23, 9 AM-9 PM) or substantially developed during it.

  • Projects should use technologies relevant to the hackathon theme; we encourage use of Google Gemini or generative AI but it is not mandatory unless specified for a prize.

  • Code repositories must be publicly available (or access provided) for judging purposes.

  • You must include a demo video showing project functionality.

4. Submission Requirements

  • Submit via Devpost with required fields: project name, description, GitHub repo link (or similar), demo link/video, and team member names.

  • All submission materials must be in English or include an English translation.

  • Late or incomplete submissions may be disqualified.

5. Ownership & Licensing

  • Each submission must be the original work of the team and not infringe on any third-party rights.

  • Open-source components are allowed but must be properly credited and comply with their licenses.

  • By submitting, teams grant the organizers and MLH a non-exclusive licence to use and promote the project.

6. Judging & Prizes

  • Judging will be conducted by a panel of judges selected by the organizers.

  • All decisions by the judges are final.

  • Prizes include MLH swag, sponsor prizes, and CSHub prizes (e.g., Google Gemini swag, Lego set).

  • In the case of a tie, the winner will be chosen based on predefined tie-breaker criteria (e.g., highest score in first evaluation category).

7. Code of Conduct & Disqualification

  • Participants must comply with the MLH Code of Conduct (harassment, discrimination, etc. are prohibited).

  • Any form of cheating, plagiarism, or violation of rules may result in disqualification at organizer’s discretion.

  • Organizers reserve the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the hackathon in case of unforeseen circumstances or technical issues.

8. Liability & Publicity

  • Participation is at your own risk; organizers, sponsors, and MLH are not liable for any consequences of participation.

  • By participating, you consent to your project being featured, and your name/likeness may be used for promotional purposes.

9. Policy Changes

  • Organizers reserve the right to update the rules at any time; changes will be posted on the event page and will become effective immediately.
