NYC Trip

On November 19, I will be making a very quick trip up to NYC to attend the INDIE+ trunk show at Re/Dress NYC, as well as saying good-bye to one of my favorite stores.

I get into NYC via train at 12:30 pm (after DJing the night before - I can't believe I'm doing this!), and will be back on a train at 3am to head back to DC.

Before I head over to Re/Dress, I'm thinking of going to the Daphne Guinness exhibition at the FIT Museum. It's free, features pretty clothes, and is only a few blocks away from the train station.

Is anyone else who is attending INDIE+ interested in joining me? If you're in NYC, have you gone? Is it worth seeing?

More information on the exhibit
I am now an unpaid member.

I just don't post enough to justify the cost.

And the beat goes on...

- Djing tonight at Liberation Dance Party. I call it the calm before the storm.

- Earthquakes don't bother me much, to be honest. I think it was all those years in CA that made me just shake them off. I do understand, however, why everyone else was freaked out.

- Home improvement is taking all of our money. Bookselves will be installed next week. Then it's on to the bathroom!

- My health has been a bit off over the last month or so, but it's getting back on track. Woot!

And that's about it.

Jul. 4th, 2011

Three years later, and I still miss her.

I love you, Mom.

Still here

I am horrible about updating my journal, but I promise that I am still reading everyday. I enjoy hearing about everyone's adventures, and I try to comment when I can.

Portugal was a blast...so much good food and wine, beautiful places, and laughes. I actually took pictures and have posted a few on my tumblr. I need to post more.

I am DJing tonight (July 1) at DC9 for Liberation Dance Party. In past years, I have avoided this date because of my mother, but this year, I think this is the right thing to do.

Next weekend, Matt and I are heading up to NYC to see the David Bowie and the Alexander McQueen exhibits. It will be nice to walk around the city with him, since it's been a while since we've gone together.

Update

And so starts a busy two weeks before our trip to Portugal.

Oh wait, did I tell you that we're going to Portugal for 10 days? YEAH! I can't wait. I have been trying to put together a packing list, and I think I have it figured out. Everything is in the same colors, but at least I can fit it all into the same bag.

I am DJing this Friday at LDP. Last time I spun in May was one of the most awesome times ever, so I am hoping this will be the same.

I did something to my foot at some point in the last week, and now it hurts to walk on it for extended periods. I have been keeping off it as much as possible, but I am really worried about our upcoming trip. I'm hoping I can get into a doctor this week so I can get it handled.

And that's about it.

Do you know what is frustrating?

I hate it when people put up a link to an event without posting the details...and the link is to Facebook.

If you are NOT on Facebook, many times you can not view it. So basically, what they are saying is "Don't come to our event."

Benefit for KT

You may recall that a few years ago, I was part of a benefit for KT. KT, for those of you who don't know her, is one of the best damn bartenders and managers in DC. But she is also more than that.

KT is my friend.

The first benefits were to help her after a painful back surgery. Unfortuately, the pain is back and she is out for the count.

So we're doing it again.

This Saturday, May 14, I will be DJing as part of a benefit for KT at DC9 (http://www.dcnine.com/). The event starts at 11pm (as does my DJing), and the cover is $10.

As I get more details, I will share them with you. But the most important detail is this:

If you have EVER come out to see me at DC9, you have seen and talked to KT. She is one of my favorite people in the world, and I want to help her. PLEASE COME OUT!

NYC

Just got back from a weekend in NYC, and already planned my next one. I have a free night at a Kimpton Hotel, so I booked Matt and I in at Eventi, a new Kimpton hotel near MSG and Penn station. Also booked us train tickets there and back because 1) I'm now in love with the train to NYC; 2) If you book in advance, you can do it round trip for $100 per person and 3) since the hotel was free, I could spend more on travel.

Our goals on this trip? To visit two museums that are having INCREDIBLE shows:

Alexander McQueen - Savage Beauty at the Met

David Bowie - Artist at MAD

I am already excited!
It's always good to know that the people you love and respect feel the same way about you.

The main diff I noticed when I let mine lapse is that it's probably unpleasant for people to visit my LJ because of the ads...

I don't mind clicking through to leave a comment on someone else's…
