Digital Explorers

The Crockett Foundation’s premier coding and mixed media summer program offers students a glimpse into web development, computer science, graphic design, eGaming and so much more.

Preparing Students for Careers in Technology and Beyond

The Crockett Foundation’s Digital Explorers program is an exciting afterschool and summer initiative that engages over 500 middle school students in Broward County, Florida, each year. With a focus on STEM exploration, the program offers youth a safe and inspiring space to learn cutting-edge skills such as coding (Python, JavaScript), eSports development, drone flight instruction, and virtual reality innovation. Through hands-on projects and leadership training, participants not only gain valuable tech expertise but also build academic, employability, and soft skills that pave the way for future success. Available at select Broward County Public middle schools, Digital Explorers offers a hybrid learning model that combines in-school and virtual instruction, ensuring students are well-prepared to explore exciting career paths in technology and beyond.

CAFS explore the medical field in Palm Beach symposium
Once again, the T. Leroy Jefferson Society, a premier medical association located in Palm Beach, welcomed our Crockett-Allen Family Scholars to their annual medical symposium. The event gave our Scholars an opportunity to explore the medical field through the lens of Black medical professionals who dedicate their lives to providing affordable healthcare services to local families in South Florida. The Scholars were able to receive mentorship and guidance on their postsecondary aspirations as well as gain exposure to technical practices that can be found in today’s medical field.

The Digital Explorers at Margate Middle School participated in a hack-a-thon this month that saw students code and design applications using JavaScript and CSS. Students were able to apply the lessons they gained from their afterschool club and build gaming applications in a fun and competitive STEM environment. Winners received a Lego Fortnite set and Microbit devices!
