Play, test, and shape the flow of water

Waterways opens to the public on Saturday, March 28!
Discover the dynamic role of water through hands-on exploration and play. Waterways invites visitors of all ages to experiment with how water moves, flows, and is shared by people and nature through a variety of interactive systems.
Children can engage directly with water at thoughtfully designed play stations, including water tables, flumes, and age-appropriate water play features. These experiences encourage observation, problem-solving, and collaborative learning as visitors test how water can be directed, contained, and shared.
Inspired by California’s unique relationship with water, the exhibit introduces fundamental concepts of movement, distribution, and resource management in an accessible and engaging environment.
Through open-ended exploration, visitors gain a deeper understanding of water as an essential and dynamic resource.
