How Does the Course Platform Work?
The BIST MOSAIC Course Platform provides access to all our training activities offered directly by BIST. You can also explore additional training opportunities through the websites of the seven BIST research centers.
The platform includes a general training offer for researchers and support staff, as well as specialized training from other programs such as WellBIST, our psychological support program.
The registration and acceptance processes differ for BIST community members and external participants. Please read the section that applies to you:

1.1 Process for BIST Community Members
Step 1 – Registration
To enroll in a course with open registration:
- Click on the course tab.
- Click the “Register here” button.
- Fill out the form with your details, ensuring you register with your corporate email.
- If your email belongs to a BIST institution, the final button will say “Submit.”
Step 2 – Validation
After submitting your registration, your institution will validate your request. Once validated, you will proceed to the payment stage.
Step 3 – Payment
Institutions have limited budgets for course fees. Depending on your institution’s allocation:
- If your institution pays for your registration, you will receive a confirmation email securing your seat.
- If your institution cannot cover the cost, you will be placed on a waiting list. In this case, you have two options:
- Pay personally at the reduced rate for BIST members. Follow the link in the email to complete the payment. (If seats are available, you can secure your spot.)
- Wait for cancellations. If participants ahead of you cancel, your institution may cover your registration fee.
Step 4 – Communication
You will receive automated emails about your course status. Here’s what the statuses mean:
- Validated (Paid/Not Paid): Your center has approved your participation. If validated but not paid, you may remain on the waiting list temporarily.
- Waiting List: You are in line for a seat. If others cancel, you may join the course or pay yourself to secure an external participant spot.
- Not Validated/Cancelled: Your center has declined your registration, possibly because the course is not suitable for you (e.g., a PhD student applying to a postdoc course) or your contract ends before the course date.
1.2 Process for External Participants
Step 1 – Registration
To enroll in a course with open registration:
- Click on the course tab.
- Click the “Register here” button.
- Complete the form with your details.
- The final button will say “Submit and Pay.”
Step 2 – Payment
After registration, the platform will redirect you to the payment page. If the course is full, you will receive an email notifying you of your position on the waiting list.
Step 3 – Communication
You will receive automated updates about your status:
- Accepted: You’ve secured a seat, and course details will be sent before the start date.
- Waiting List: If seats open up, you’ll receive an email with a link to complete payment. Seats are assigned to the first person on the waiting list who completes payment.
2. Communication and Course Participation
If you are accepted you’ll receive:
- Course Details: Before the course begins, a welcome email will outline logistics (location, materials to prepare, etc.).
- Online Courses: A link will be sent a few days before the course starts.
- During the Course: Additional materials or updates may be shared.
- Certificate: If you attend 100% of sessions, you’ll receive a participation certificate.

3. FAQs
What if I cannot attend the course?
Inform us at talent@bist.eu as soon as possible. Check the refund policies in the course policy section. Note: Changes cannot be made within 48 hours of the start date.
What if I miss a session?
Let us know. You may continue using course materials but might miss interactive activities. Missing a session may result in not receiving a certificate.
Can I transfer my seat to a colleague?
No, seats are allocated via the waiting list. If you cannot attend, your seat will go to the next person.
What if I don’t like the course?
Feedback is valuable! Contact us at talent@bist.eu or complete the satisfaction survey sent at the end. Unfortunately, refunds or seat transfers are not possible after the course starts.
