File Size Instructions

Using the highest quality makes HUGE files, slow upload/download, and doesn't improve the end users viewing
significantly.
Set your video quality at medium-low, about 30%
1280x720 maximum (720HD or 720SD)

Content Management

Kaltura does not automatically limit the size or duration of media, nor does it restrict the number of videos a
single user can upload to their MediaSpace. However, Kaltura is a content delivery system for sharing and
viewing video resources and it is not a content storage system. While we encourage all users to take advantage
of their MediaSpace, any media you no longer require to be hosted on Kaltura MediaSpace should be taken
down as a courtesy.

All Kaltura content undergoes a annual review. Any videos with no views in the previous 3-years will be
removed from the system.

Adding Captions:

Kaltura has a built-in auto captioning service which members are encouraged to use.

  • From your MyMedia view, select the videos you wish to caption. The video must be finished processing in order to be auto-captioned.
  • In the "Actions" dropdown, choose "+Caption & Enrich"
  • Select language and "Submit"

Playlists are a great way to group videos.
1. Select "Guest" or Username dropdown, select "My Media".
2. Place a check by the videos to be added to your playlist.
3. In the "Actions" dropdown, choose "+add to Playlist".
4. In the "Create New Playlist" box, enter a name, then click Create. Save.
5. Select "Go to My Playlists" to view.

If you are having issues uploading videos to Kaltura, please see our help guide in COTROnline or contact the
COTROnline Help Desk.
