Tangled up in black again

It has been over a year since I came on here and posted. Quite a lot has changed since then, the biggest thing..



I'm now mummy to two fantastic little boys. Dexter is 2 now and far to clever for his own good and Austin, the newest arrival to the family, is 11 weeks.

So how is everyone? Have I missed anything big?

After my meeting yesterday things look like they're going to work out with me returning to work.

Hurrah!!!

My boss has just got to speak to her boss on Friday (and bear in mind it's the fourth one she's had since I left as so many people have left on voluntary redundancy) but we're hoping he'll agree that she knows best that reducing my hours will be okay. So just got to wait to hear.

Fingers crossed.

I'm off to work in a while to try and sort out going back from my maternity leave. We've worked out I'll be able to go back on part time hours (12-5) each day instead of my full time hours. It worked out we'd actually be worse off if I was back full time as Dexter would have to go to a nursery for the mornings and paying for that would be more than I'd be earning!! Also Gaz and I had decided before we have Dexter we didn't want someone else bringing him up. At least this way I can look after Dex in the morning and then once Gaz is back and has had a sleep (he goes out to work at about half one in the morning) I can go back to work and he can look after Dex.

Things seem positive from when I've spoken to my supervisor, just need to have a meeting with her now and my manager and I've got my paperwork all sorted out for my application of flexible working for parents. I'm starting to get nervous about it because I'm not quite sure what we'll do if they say I can't do it.

Electricity!!!!!!

It's a miracle!

Our power's been out since around 10.30 this morning, just came back on at around 7. Luckily I've been at work for the majority of it but Gaz has been here bored to tears. The back up generator took a while to kick in at work though, we were in darkness for about a minute then the computers wouldn't come back on for another 20. Time to get a coffee though ;)

I just hope all the food in the freezer's okay.

And while I'm here, just wanted to wish daizze a very happy birthday!!

I had to think this morning what day it was ;) That's what bank holiday weekends do to me!

Hope everyone's having a relaxing weekend, today has been all that a bank holiday should be. I've been painting, sorting the garden and baking!

I made the Raspberry and Coconut slice again, it turned out much better than last time. Don't get me wrong, it was nice before but it went a bit mushy because we had to put it back in the oven (it was in for longer than it should have been but still wasn't cooked), but this time I changed a couple of bits and it's lovely! (If anyone wants the recipe let me know)

We also finally got around to doing something with one of the box frames we bought earlier in the year.

The shells are ones that we picked up when we went on the boat trip at Clearwater. We always said we'd do something with them and now we have.

Because I said I would... and because alias_jems poked me. :P I've made another anim icon, another 'little moments' from Tuesdays US episode. I think I'll have to have another go at it to try and get it better (because it's a bit small to see) but you're welcome to use it.

My dining room looks like a bomb has struck, although I have made 14 (15 but Gaz stole one) new greeting cards. Shall make some more tomorrow but I can't be bothered at the moment.

We're off ice staking again tomorrow. We can't go to Nottingham like last time so we're going to see what Peterborough's like. Hopefully I won't break any bones ;)

I've just snagged some craft related freebies from a forum that I go to... I love it when other people have clearouts :)

And, I've just downloaded some new caps to make icons. Fraggle Rock!

Okay now I really should make some cards, I have orders!
