Providing affordable housing options in the southern Berkshires, Construct has over 90 properties.
Construct’s affordable housing serves the people who make up the fabric of
our community. Teachers, artists, healthcare workers, retirees, and others
who have lived and worked in the Berkshires for years. These homes are
thoughtfully designed for individuals and families navigating life transitions,
whether facing housing instability, recovering from a hardship, or simply
unable to keep up with the region’s rising housing costs.
Each property is unique, built to meet a range of needs within our community.
Some provide short-term solutions or transitional housing, while others are
designed for families, young workers, or individuals with accessibility needs.
Currently there are over 400 households on Construct’s waiting list for
affordable housing.
LEE
Prospect Street Duplexes — These 4 duplex units are subsidized by the USDA for families living below 60% AMI.
GREAT BARRINGTON
140 East Street Apartments — 9 one-bedroom units with HOME subsidized set asides for households at 30, 50, & 60% of AMI. One unit is also set aside for an individual with a disability.
Forest Springs (316 State Road) — This property, for individuals and families living at 30-60% of AMI, offers 11 one-to-three bedroom units. Some have been set aside for households coming out of homelessness and some are specifically reserved for people living with developmental and mental health disabilities.
Jordan (257 & 259 State Road) & Genesis (314 State Road) Houses — These two properties offer 10 rooms, plus one apartment, for safe, sober living. Although these units are a step up from transitional housing, no project-based subsidies exist for these properties so individuals can apply Section 8 vouchers.
41 Mahaiwe Street — This building, once the home of Hevreh of the South Berkshires, now provides Construct’s office space and transitional housing for the homeless. Currently, there are five transitional rooms for men and five for women. (The waiting list is 80 names long.)
Transitional Housing — 10 bedroom sober-living residence for youth, men and women coming out of homelessness.
NEW MARLBOROUGH
Cassilis — In Process: A Gilded Age, 11,000 sq ft mansion on 20 acres will be converted into 11 units of affordable housing, with two separate houses repurposed into workforce housing.
STOCKBRIDGE
Pinewoods complex in Stockbridge — This complex in Stockbridge offers a combination of twenty-five affordable housing units and five more at market rate.
