thinking back on this Christmas party I went to in 2021 where I showed Cookie Comic Creator to this family friend who also wrote code. he mentioned using React for web projects, and I asked him if I should rewrite the site in React while it was just a simple 1,500-line long JS file. he told me "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

4½ years later and here I am, rewriting the entire comic creator in React. it's currently sitting at over 40,000 lines of code and it's not even ready yet. The moral of this story is to never listen to anyone

happy 4th birthday Comic Studio!!! this site ended up totally different from what I originally expected 4 years ago, but I wouldn't have it any other way. any bigger and I would have so many problems to deal with, any smaller and I probably wouldn't have been able to move out of where I grew up. before this site blew up, my mom thought I'd have to live with her forever 😭

so much Cookie Comic Creator code is still present in Cookie Run Comic Studio... some of that goes back to July of 2020. meaning this site's technical start of development is almost 6 years old now

I don't have proof for this claim. it took me a long time to make this site. I promise I'll update it some more soon

every year or so a kid does something horrible on this site, gets banned permanently by a moderator, and decides to make a bunch of social media accounts to stalk & harass me in a strange attempt to convince me to unban them. Usually I don't talk about them publicly because giving these weirdos attention only fuels them, but this time around the person that's doing it appears to be genuinely too mentally ill to understand what he did (and what he's currently doing) to be wrong. So I want to say, please respect my team and I's privacy and learn to take punishment well if you want any chance at getting unbanned

I also am generally not the one that makes moderation decisions, but when you bring it to me personally, I will look up what you did in the database and hold you accountable for it. so be nice, and also please listen to me when I tell you to leave me alone!!
