Impostor

Impostor is a group imposter game built around bluffing and collective deduction. In each round, players receive secret words, except for the impostor. Your role shifts depending on what you're assigned: if you're the impostor, you'll need to give convincing clues to avoid suspicion; if you're not, your job is to reason, investigate, and uncover who's lying.

Gameplay

At the start of each match, you choose the number of players and impostors. Every participant receives a hidden word, except the impostor, who doesn't know the real one. Their challenge is to pretend they're in the loop, give a clue that fits what everyone else supposedly knows, and try to figure out the secret word before being exposed. Players who do know the word must give hints that help others identify it while keeping an eye on the impostor's behavior. After all clues are shared, the accusation and voting phase begins: who do you think is the impostor? Guess correctly, and you win; guess wrong, and the impostor gets away with it.

Game modes and options

In Impostor, you can customize each match by choosing from different thematic categories, adding variety to the vocabulary, and preventing repetitive clues. You can play in question mode or keyword mode. A minimum of three players is required, since there must be at least one impostor. With only two players, the impostor's identity becomes obvious too quickly.

Categories and question types

If you choose keyword mode, the impostor must guess the secret word. Categories include animals, food, objects, movies, places, sports, professions, brands, tools, and vehicles. The last four are available only in the paid version. In question mode, you can pick topics such as everyday life, love and relationships, spicy questions, deep thoughts, money and fame, the future and technology, dark humor, and guilty pleasures. Most of these also require a paid subscription.
