CSC Officers

Kendal Baerg
President
Bio
I’ve been involved with CSC for about 5 years now, with this being my first term on the board. I shoot PRS match shooting and long range ELR. My biggest shooting accomplishment is shooting in the Night force ELR Match shoots.
When I am not shooting you can find me outside, hiking, hunting, or fishing. I also proudly serve my community in the Cody Volunteer fire Department.

Paul Card
Vice President
Bio
I’ve been involved with CSC for about 15 years now. I’m currently serving as a rifle pistol. I also co-host every day carry pistol matches. My favorite discipline is target pistol. When it comes to shooting, my greatest accomplishment was 6th place of 50 competitors at a pistol match in Spearfish, SD.
Outside of the range, I am retired but you can always find me outside.

Amanda Baerg
Treasurer
Bio
My interest in shooting sports began after marrying my husband in 2006, focusing mainly on pistol, but also sharing his interest in the science behind long-range precision shooting. This ties in nicely with my background in engineering, though I currently work in marketing. My hobbies include cooking, baking, being outside, and spending time with our dog Moose. I’m excited to serve CSC in my role as treasurer.

Events & Memberships
Bio
I began as the Recording Secretary in 2022. I have recently been appointed to oversee the website, membership and events. I also assist with the Sporting Clays, 5 Stand and Trap venues. I enjoy volunteering my time to help wherever needed at the range.
I enjoy all shotgun disciplines and compete in ATA, NSSA and NSCA tournaments around the region. My greatest shooting accomplishment thus far has been placing in multiple events at 2023 NSCA Western Regionals.
Currently I attend Midland University in Fremont, NE. I am there on an honors and shotgun scholarship, double majoring in Criminal Justice and Sociology!

Ugo Carrafa
Range Safety Officer
Bio
I’ve been involved with CSC for 18 years now. I’m currently serving as the range safety officer, but I also have served as a director. I’m kind of a rarity as a shooter in all three of the major disciplines- shotgun, pistol and rifle. However, my favorite is USPSA.
Outside of the range you can find me doing anything outdoors, whether that is hunting, fishing, foraging, or hiking. I can also be found riding motorcycles.
Board of Directors

John Schwartz
Rifle/Pistol Director
Bio
I have been a life member of CSC since 1987 and I am currently serving as a rifle-pistol director. At the range you can find me shooting IDAP and USPSA. I also co-host everyday carry pistol matches at the range. However, I have not always shot pistols. I was the 1997 Class D Skeet Champion.
In my spare time I was a hunting guide and worked as a horse wrangler for several dude ranches. I have an ever-loving passion for the outdoors.

Phillip Velayo
Rifle/Pistol Director
Bio
Phillip Velayo is the Founder of The Cadre Training Group and a highly distinguished authority
in precision rifle marksmanship. He brings a decade of elite experience from the Marine Corps Scout Sniper community to his current role, establishing himself as a sought-after expert in long-
range shooting instruction.
As a 10-year Marine Corps veteran specializing in the Scout Sniper community, he served in
critical roles including Scout Sniper Team Leader, Chief Scout Sniper, and Scout Sniper
Instructor. His meticulous training approach set new standards of excellence during his final
three years spent at the 1st Marine Division Scout Sniper School as the Primary Marksmanship
Instructor.
After graduating as "High Shooter" from all follow-on Scout Sniper courses and being nominated
for Scout Sniper Instructor of the Year in 2016, Phillip transitioned out of active military service
in 2018. Despite leaving the Marines, he seamlessly continued to shape the precision rifle
training landscape, becoming a world-class instructor sought out by international competitors
and government agencies alike. He has achieved national recognition in competitive shooting
and established himself as a leading authority in long-range marksmanship.

Logan Valcarce
Rifle/Pistol Director
I currently serve as the USPSA match director for the Cody area, deeply hoping to continue the legacy of Rich Redovian. When shooting, I train religiously. This has allowed me to earn master class status.
I look forward to serving the shooting community and contuine to follow the CSC mission.

Dave Hinzpeter
Shotgun Director
Bio
I’ve been involved with CSC for about 22 years now, and am currently serving as a shotgun director. However, I’ve been shooting shotgun a lot longer than that since I entered my first competition in 1965. My favorite discipline is trap, but I can be found shooting any of the shotgun disciplines. When I’m not at the range, you can typically find me out fishing!

Dave DeKruger
Shotgun Director
Bio
I have been here at CSC for about 4 years now, and I am now serving as a shotgun director. I mainly can be found shooting trap, or recently sporting clays and 5 stand. While I mainly shoot clays, my favorite thing to do with my gun is field work.
When I am not at the range, I can be found with my dogs. Something you may not know about me is that I have a doctorate degree.

Gary Conner
Shotgun Director
Bio
Until late 2023, when I was invited to Join the CSC Board of Directors, I was just an average member who came out on the weekends to shoot with my family and watch my daughter’s shooting skills improve while I was working on improving my own skills as well. I enjoy all of the CSC facilities including pistol and rifle shooting, but my favorites are the shotgun disciplines, including Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, and 5-Stand! I am always on the quest for that elusive perfect 25 in trap or skeet! But I’m usually pleased with my ever-improving personal best scores.
I’m a Cody, WY native who enjoys the outdoors. I favor shooting, motorcycling, and downhill skiing most. I’m exceptionally proud of my daughter’s enthusiasm for the shooting sports! I’m so glad to see her and other young people show interest in this sustainable, lifelong hobby.

Brian Lee
Shotgun Director
Bio
I am a fairly new member to CSC but I am loving bringing my shotgun and rifle experience to the range! When I am not shooting a round of clays you can find me at the skeet venue.
Outside of CSC I am a professional gun writer for LSB investments here in Cody. That’s just a fancy way of saying I am a giant gun nerd! I proudly serve on the Southfork Fire Department and I love to go on adventures with my wife Beth and our two daughters.
