The State of things!

Okay 2014 is almost half-over and there is so much left to achieve. Haven’t blogged in a while and this trend stays true for all of my blogging history. I am completed with my sophomore year and time has flown by so quickly. Nevertheless, I have few things to tell. One, I qualified for the Google Code Jam:), but couldn’t quite make it past  the later rounds(past the best<1000 programmers worldwide ). Hope next time it is going to be better. Two, I have a decent ranking now on Codechef. I hope to get under thousand global rank till the vacations get over and make a mark at other competitive programming sites as well. Three, I haven’t been able to travel a lot lately. I am dying for a roadtrip. Maybe one to Jodhpur will set the deal for me.

Lastly, I have been watching a few Japanese anime movies and I must say they are so totally worth it. *Nostalgia*( this, this and this)

Things are still in a disarray and something seems to eating me up, but I cannot still figure out what is bothering me? . I want to write more but I’d leave it untold here. Hope to get everything fixed. BTW listening to Coldplay’s newly released album. This might be the 5th time on trot . Maybe I am trying to derive some happiness. Feeling pretty cold on a very hot day. *Sigh*

Long Time, No See!

Been a long time since I last updated the blog.  Maybe I could have posted a lot more if it wasn’t for my sluggishness. Anyways, today is technically the last day of the third semester. To make a long story short, I’d say this was one long sem which started way back during early July. I’d neither go into the logistics and the courses I took, nor I’d go into my average (monotonous) life. Anyone dizzy already?

Anyway, what I’d like to establish here is the fact that I still feel quite content that I had my moments. The ones when I was euphoric overwhelming with enthusiasm and the ones when everything seemed so wasteful. The Rajgir Trip, The ACM preparatory and participatory rounds were to name a few. Though Rajgir was beautiful and ACM was pathetic I’m hopeful I will wreak havoc the next time I participate in ACM-ICPC rounds. For the win, Fuc*Yeah.        /*Yeah, I’m an overconfident brat who will always reflect optimism*/

But the part for which I’m essentially writing this post is yet to come. This was the recently concluded (not actually) NSS Camp      {28 Nov – 4 Dec}  to test and interact with children of the lesser privileged strata of the society. This happened to be the last day of my stint at the camp as I leave tomorrow . But I must say I had an amazing time with them. Enter the fourth or fifth day of the camp we had such a bond formed with them. They’d come to receive us as soon as our college bus reached their village. I’d agree they are the most overlooked ones in the crowd but that doesn’t take away the spark in their eyes and the enthusiasm in their guts. I guess this is what is ever needed to accomplish the greatest of dreams. All they need a little push. I won’t go in detail of our teaching methods, because deep down I always like to think myself as an storyteller rather than a mere fact collector/presenter.

To sum up, I’d say I made friends with the children. They were sad when they realised I wouldn’t be there for them from tomorrow. GoodByes is the hardest things to do. Always. I regret leaving early and I don’t really know where they’ll finally end up in their lives, but I’m hopeful someday I will strike Chotu at some airport, wearing all whites, hair nicely combed, “Ain’t you delighted to meet your flight pilot, Sir”.   Amen!

If Spring comes, can Winter be far behind!

Past few months have been eventful. Actually the whole freshman year has been as good as it gets. The Amazing month of January was followed by a plethora of activities. Reva, ICIEM followed by a very successful Technika 2013 which is our annual techno-management fest. What was more pleasing was the fact that I did manage to win a few competitions in these events! Yay! That was soon followed by the “Hostel-Holi” which, if explained in one word was insane. It all ended up with one whole lobby getting fined for …? Don’t know for what? Maybe for playing Holi the way it is meant to be played  😀

Coming to one of the ultra insane events of my college life, it occured when I was playing football barefoot and got the middle portion of my foot ripped of by a broken glass bottle. I lost half a unit blood (pure estimations) and three to four days of standing on my feet. If you are wondering why the hell that broken bottle was lying in the field then probably you ain’t aware of engineering colleges in India atleast 😛 . Though i must say that was not the main field on which we were playing.  //In the end it was my mistake for being so careless.

Anyways here we are on the 30th of April which is officially the last day of the freshman year. This year has been remarkable. Probably the best academic year of my life. I remember how skeptical I was early on but then everything just eased out. They say ‘In the end; it doesn’t even matter’.! Cheers!
