manifesto for ensembles
(these are not the rules and regs)
1) Create ‘theatrical’ happenings -have fun, be absurd.
2) Don’t ask permission
3) The amateur activist –be inexpert, keep it simple
Failure, mess, chaos, unpreparedness, ad hocicity, improvisation, on the hoofness as resistance.
4) Anonymous – or ‘non individual identity’.
5) No logo – freedom from branding, definition, no promotion of self or organisation.
6) Give -your time, your enthusiasm, your skills, your humour. Trust, connection, communication are the currencies.
7) Stand up and be counted and be accountable (but see 8)
8) Irony – act with humility, awareness of complicity, appropriation, lack of innocence…see ‘free’ as ‘framed’ (“you have been framed ;-)”) by the not free.
9) Be open, be thrilled, be curious.
10) Do what you want to do. Don’t do what you don’t want to do.
11) Nodes – there is no ‘endgame’; there is no specific agenda other than to ask questions from where you are at this precise point in time. Welcome disagreement and debate…find the points of intersection.
12) The arrangement of persons for any one action is transitory, fluid and flexible.
13) No-one is in charge , everyone is in charge-we work it out as we go along
