Module One: A Different View of Our Roles
“Many believers retreat to a ‘holy huddle’ — safe, comfortable, and inwardly focused. But God calls us to something far greater. In Jeremiah 29, He tells His exiled people to build houses, plant gardens, marry, raise families, and seek the peace and prosperity of the very city that destroyed theirs. Your vantage point determines whether you hide from the world… or engage it as salt and light.”
BIG IDEA
Our role with others should be to engage with people around us rather than withdraw from them.

Module Two: A Different View of Story
“Most of us live with a two-chapter gospel: we sinned, Jesus saved us. But what if you’re missing the full story?
Imagine tearing the first and last chapters out of a mystery novel — you can still solve the crime, but you miss the beauty and meaning. God’s story has four chapters: Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration. When you see the whole story, your ordinary life suddenly fits into God’s epic redemption of the world.”
BIG IDEA
The Gospel (God’s big story) is an overarching narrative that consists of four “chapters.” Our lives only make sense when we understand where we fit inside His story.

Module Three: A Different View of City
“It’s easy to look at your city — the crime, corruption, poverty, and brokenness — and think, ‘God has forsaken this place.’ But God’s story begins in a garden and ends in a city. He cares deeply about cities because that’s where culture is shaped, people are gathered, and His image-bearers live in highest concentration.
Like Jonah, we can turn away in disgust… or we can step in and become part of the restoration God is already doing.”
BIG IDEA
We should not be overwhelmed by the enormity of city problems around us. We can, individually and collectively, make a real difference.

Why a small group discussion series?
It’s one thing to gain an understanding through absorbing information; listening to a sermon or reading a book can present challenging and valuable ideas. But at Cities Project Global, we believe the greatest transformation happens in community, and discussion gives people an understanding to more deeply challenge and process their own perspectives, as well as relate to beliefs and experiences shared by others.
A small group setting, within a trusted community or circle of friends, is the perfect place to begin a journey of discovery.
