| You knew it had to happen eventually.
I felt bad for upcoming baby riggers who couldn't tie a single column tie. 1 in particular, she has problems seeing the knot but once she gets it, she gets it.
So I've been teaching rope for a few weeks. We all get together, have snacks, I bring in all my rope bunnies and I've taught them the basics and now beyond. When they go to rope classes now, they can keep up. They can learn the new things because they know the basics. Ok, well I said that but for the January class, I showed them my rope notebook. I showed them my phone notes with pics. They all came back with illegible notes and can't tie the basic arms in front harness.
Oy vey.
Next class is on the 19th.
Funny thing about rope dojo, I was minding my own business on Instagram and my teacher asked if I was going to come to class. I said, "But teacher, I know the basics." He said everyone needs to work on perfecting the basics.
Ok. Is he looking at my online pics and saying, "That is shitty rope and she's going to kill someone?"
I think it's because he wants to give me opportunities to learn and be better.
So the next time I was at the dungeon, I was sitting next to Stefan. He started when I did and now he's off taking fancy pics on Instagram, tying people for money too (photoshoots). I said, "Stefan, did Lunatic ask you to come to class?"
"He doesn't talk to me at all."
"Huh. Well he told me to come back to class because everyone needs to work on the basics."
And we looked at each other.
And we looked a little chagrined. And we simultaneously decided we should start going back to class for the fundamentals. I told all this to Lunatic and he guffawed! LOLZ
So I tie twice a week for funsies, teach once a week, and go to at least 1 class a month. Oh, and I usually tie at events or dungeon nights for shits and giggles. I do feel a lot more confident. Not so confident that I'm going to hurt someone but I don't have to make a list of things I can do and study it before I go to the dungeon.
I'd like to take more pics though. Maybe more artsy pics. Close-ups with boka. We'll see. I'm usually busy keeping them alive or giving an experience to taking the time to do art is difficult.
Everyone ready for Valentine's? I've got 2 Ghost Valentine-themed shirts and I did my Valentine shopping already. It was a win/loose situation that I'm both giddy and embarrassed about.
In my favor:
I went jeans hunting in...December? January? I ended up buying 2 jeans I like but there was the one that got away. It was from Dillards, "Free People," brand so it's, ya know, me. Loose things and Boho kinda things. Anyway, I tried on a pair of jeans from them, flares/bell-bottoms and I loved the color (faded) and I loved the bell-bottoms. The top fit a little odd. Just wasn't 100% but I could overlook it. I couldn't overlook the price of $98. I'm cheap and at that price, I want perfection.
So when I went shopping, I happened to glance over and saw 1 pair of faded bell-bottom jeans. 1. Just 1. Oh, and these had a pattern. Very cute! 1 pair and IN MY SIZE!!!! I tried them on and the top was different! They felt perfect! Soft but like a second skin that moves with me, doesn't bind anywhere. Oh, and I SALE! down to $34!!! Yeah, I grabbed those!
And then I saw 2 shirts in Valenetine's colors, all floaty and fey and gorgeous. I tried them on and they are dreamy! So dreamy! I never find even 1 item of clothing to buy but 3 is unheard of! What a day! I've never hit it out of the park like that! I always settle on a good day.
The Bad Part:
I go to pay for them and...$310.
Yeah, the damn dream shirts are $128 EACH!
Oh believe me, I spent like 20 minutes dithering. Obviously, I have to put one back. But which one? Dammit!
In the end, I know I can go literally years unable to find a thing to buy so, yeah, I bought both. I paid a shameful amount of money for mere shirts. Ugh.
