Dear Yuletide Author 2017

Dear Yuletide Author,

First, thank you for taking on my request! I'm super excited to read whatever you write for me :)

And now...some details...

*

The Good Place

I really love Eleanor's character and that's why I only specifically requested her – though I am happy to see any of the other bunch! Glimpses of Eleanor's past are great, and I love when she does things that show her new found knowledge of ethics, sometimes unknowingly.

Eleanor's relationships with Chidi, Tahani and Jason are all super fun. If there's any romance to be found, I prefer Eleanor with Chidi and no matter the topic, I would definitely prefer a happy ending (or as happy as it gets in the Bad Place!).

I really like Janet, and Michael, and wouldn't mind a story set in an alternate future from where we are currently in the series. I think some of the loophole possibilities seem intriguing, including the Medium Place, and Janet's growth over the reboots.

*

Burnt

What can I say about Burnt? Well, I super ship Adam and Tony, and I also think that Reece is one of those interesting characters that's just asking for some sort of backstory, or at least more of a present/future story than where he is in relation to Adam.

Essentially, I'll be happy with a story about any or all of these guys!

*

Interstellar

As I mentioned in my request, I'm most interested in the future of this crazy expedition. I think it would also be amazing to explore the psychological consequences of what they have gone through, even if they somehow found a strange kind of peace and fulfillment on the new planet.

*

Constantine

Can John maintain his new lifestyle? How will Angela reconcile her new view on the world with her regular 9 to 5? What can Chas do in his new role? I feel like there are a lot of questions that the movie leaves us with and I'd be happy with any ideas for answers. That being said, a slice of life/vignette about any or all of these characters would also be more than welcome :)

Dear Yuletide Author 2013

I tried to keep my 'optional details' brief and I'll try not to ramble here...I'm just really excited about my requests this year!
And, it's been a couple of years since I've done Yuletide so I'm excited about all of it really :P

In general, I prefer things like happy endings, comedy and adventure. I noticed after the fact that my requests this year involve two groups of four characters and two couples (plus Woola!)...and I am interested in the relationships between the characters, and not exclusively the romantic ones.

-After Hours
I love these characters a lot! I think there's some great UST going on but I also really like the ensemble nature of the show. There have been a few episodes where they sit and chat in a location that isn't a restaurant but what about all the rest of the time that they spend together?

-John Carter
I'm interested in what happens when John returns to Mars, but I also think a little farther in the future for them is a good topic too. And, of course, Woola :)

-MI: Ghost Protocol
This team is great! I would love to see them during their down time, or perhaps developing their own post-mission rituals. The fact that Benji was only recently cleared for field duty is also very intriguing to me :)

-Vatta's War
There's so much stuff going on in this series! I love that these characters both have their own lives and their own things going on, but I would love to see them also being together in whatever way they can. Maybe a shared vacation or... a family gathering for a holiday :)

SUMMER TIME!!

My school year is finally over!!!! I handed in my last paper today - it could literally be my last paper because I still don't know if I got into the education program for next year. I should find out in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I'm going to look for a job and enjoy not having any studying to do!! :)
Also, I can't wait for The Avengers. I may scream and/or cry in the theatre :P

New Year

I've always tended to stay away from resolutions in January since I'm
a) not a big fan of commitment and
b) terribly afraid of putting effort into something and then failing (thus proving that I'm just not good enough).

But, recently it's seemed like a good idea to think about what I want out of life, what my goals are and how I'm going to go about achieving them. To start with I've signed up for the Day Zero Project (dayzeroproject.com) where I've made a list of 101 things I'd like to do and I have 1001 days in which to accomplish them.

You set your own start date and mine was Jan. 1, 2012. Some of the goals I've made for myself are specific, one-time things (visit Paris, submit a novel to a publisher, knit a sweater) and some are more subjective and/or long term (do more yoga, learn to play the harp, try to eat breakfast everyday).

One of my goals is even to make a Bucket List since I've never sat down and really thought about all the things I'd like to do before the end of my life. For some reason I just always thought the things I wanted or wanted to experience would just happen, no significant planning required. If there's one thing I've learned over the past years, it's that life doesn't work that way :)

But, the main thing I'm hoping to get out of this endeavour is motivation. I think that being more specific about what I want and acknowledging that some things needed to be long term plans will help with that.

Finished my last exam of the semester and then went out for a celebratory lunch with a few classmates.
I now have 14 days to get ready for my Victorian novels class next term...think I'll start with Wuthering Heights :)

Oh, and Yuletide is due in about 48 hours. Mine is about one fifth finished, so at least I can say I started it!

My iPad!!!!

Well, it's the first day of classes, but at UBC, all the classes are cancelled on the first day if you're an undergrad. So, I stayed up late playing World of Warcraft and reading on my iPad.

That's right, I do both of those things!! :P

My iPad's name is Balthazar...and it's just the cutest, most wonderful thing ever! I'm really glad I went crazy one day and bought one, even though I used almost all of my savings :)

As for WoW...I started playing almost a month ago and I really enjoy it. I know it'll be hard to manage my time now that I have to put studying first, but I'm an adult, I can do that. I can! Stop laughing!!! :P

Hey, Green Lantern just walked by...

Not too surprising that I didn't know there was a cosplay convention on campus this weekend until I got to work this morning and found myself right in the middle of it. Saturdays are just boring enough that at least this means there's something interesting to look at :)

Choosing a cell phone company

I'm back in Vancouver (at UBC to be precise) and I need to get a cell phone.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Or companies/plans to avoid?
I need a phone and service, and I'd prefer no contract...thanks for any tips anyone might have :)

I'm visiting Vancouver

This weekend I'll be in Vancouver...the first time in 15 months aside from a few hours at the airport. If anyone in Vancouver is interested in going for Korean food on Saturday night we're gonna go to Robson in the evening and pick a place...exact time to be determined.
Other than that I'll be hanging out on campus and doing some shopping...also trying to avoid the huge amount of snow that is apparently forecast for the next few days. Great timing, eh?

I still move around a lot and feel like I'm never 100% certain that I will be staying in a place more than a year, so a big computer would just be extra baggage :P

    Yeah, that's a good point. Me,…

    Congrats on the iPad!

I want one very much. But whenever I think seriously about it, I decide I'd spend the money on something else. My current next-big-purchase is planned to be a desktop PC…
