General Background
We strive to provide an optimal user experience on the website for the entire public, including people with disabilities. To facilitate, ease, and improve website usability, with a focus on the needs of this audience, an accessibility plugin has been installed on the site. Accessibility adjustments were made in accordance with the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Act and the Israeli Standard (IS 5568) at level AA.
How Accessibility is Implemented on the Website
- Navigation using the keyboard only, by pressing the Tab key and identifying the area in focus.
- An accessibility toolbar is installed, allowing accessibility improvements to the website’s display through activation and deactivation of controls:
- Changing color contrast to reverse contrast (dark background, light text) and/or high contrast.
- Removing color from images and graphic elements.
- Highlighting links.
- Adjusting font size.
- Switching the site’s font to a sans-serif font to enhance reading flow.
- Providing textual descriptions for images and icons if they have meaningful content for assistive technologies.
- Making menus, forms, and heading hierarchy accessible.
- An accessibility statement explaining compliance, gaps, and the contact person responsible for accessibility.
Changing Font Size via Keyboard
- To increase font size, press Ctrl +.
- To decrease font size, press Ctrl –.
How to Use the Accessibility Plugin
By clicking control buttons in the accessibility toolbar, users can:
- Change background and font color contrast.
- Highlight links.
- Switch the font to sans-serif.
- Navigate using the keyboard with the Tab key to skip between content areas.
If you use screen reading software, you can navigate between page headings according to the software’s shortcut key settings.
