This plugin adds the Mika AI chat widget to your WordPress site by inserting a small JavaScript snippet in your site’s footer. The snippet loads the Mika widget from api.hiremika.com, which displays a floating chat button on your pages.

When visitors click the chat button, they can have a conversation with Mika, your AI assistant. Mika uses the information from your website to answer questions, capture contact details, and book appointments.

External service: This plugin connects to hiremika.com, a third-party AI chat service operated by Dcipher LLC. Visitor chat messages are sent to Mika’s servers for AI processing. Where do I get an API key?

Sign up for a free account at hiremika.com/signup. After Mika scans your website, you will find your API key on the dashboard Overview page. It starts with pk_.

Is Mika really free?

Yes. The free plan includes around 30 conversations per month, lead capture, and 8-language support. No credit card required, no time limit. It is built for startups and just-launched sites and covers most of them. When your site outgrows it, paid plans start at $9.99/month for around 5 to 10 conversations per day, with a 14-day free trial on Core.

What data is sent to hiremika.com?

Only visitor chat messages typed into the widget are sent to Mika’s servers for processing. No WordPress admin data, user credentials, database content, or site configuration is transmitted. See our Privacy Policy.

Does Mika book appointments directly into my calendar?

No. Mika handles appointment requests. Visitors share their preferred date, time, and service. You receive an email notification and confirm the appointment in your own calendar. This is intentional. It keeps you in control and prevents double bookings.

Does it work with WooCommerce?

Yes, and it does more than just appear on the page. With a Retail plan, Mika searches your WooCommerce product catalog live during conversations, shows photo cards inline, filters by color and size and variant, and respects stock levels. Visitors can ask “do you have this in large?” and get a real answer. Catalog syncs throughout the day so new products appear automatically.

Does it work with MemberPress or LearnDash?

Yes. Mika runs on any WordPress page, including membership gates, course pages, and checkout flows. It helps convert visitors who are browsing your offerings but have not signed up yet.

I run a healthcare practice. Is this safe to use with patients?

Mika offers a Privacy Mode that stores nothing. Visitor messages are processed and discarded. Healthcare guardrails prevent Mika from discussing symptoms, diagnoses, or medications, redirecting all clinical questions to scheduling. Privacy Mode is available on Standard Pro and is enabled during managed onboarding at hiremika.com. We do not claim HIPAA compliance or provide BAAs. The point of Privacy Mode is that there is nothing stored to breach in the first place.

Will Mika ever discuss medical conditions or give health advice?

No. With Privacy Mode enabled, Mika refuses to engage with symptom, diagnosis, or medication questions and redirects them to scheduling.

Can multiple team members access the dashboard?

Yes. Invite team members with role-based access: owners manage billing and account settings, admins manage content and configuration, and staff can view conversations and manage their own appointments.

Does it work with page builders like Elementor or Divi?

Yes. Mika loads as a floating widget overlay and does not interfere with any page builder. It works with Elementor, Divi, Astra, Kadence, GeneratePress, Beaver Builder, and all other WordPress themes and page builders.

Can I hide the widget on specific pages?

Yes, two ways: (1) Enter comma-separated page IDs in the Exclude Pages field on the settings page, or (2) check the “Disable Mika Chat” box in the sidebar when editing any page or post.

Will this slow down my site?

No. The Mika script loads asynchronously and does not block page rendering. The initial script is under 10KB. All heavy resources load only when a visitor opens the chat.

Can I customize the widget colors and appearance?

Yes, but customization is managed from your Mika dashboard, not from WordPress. Brand colors are available on the Plus plan. Full widget customization is available on the Pro plan.

Does Mika support multiple languages?

Yes. Mika automatically detects the visitor’s language and responds in kind. Supported languages: English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Italian, Chinese, and Korean.

What happens if Mika cannot answer a question?

Mika gracefully tells the visitor that a team member will reach out, captures their contact details, and emails you the question. No loops, no “transferring you to an agent” dead ends.

What if I have more conversations than my plan estimates?

The conversation counts on each plan are estimates of typical daily volume, not hard caps. If you have a busy day, conversations are not cut off mid-chat. If your usage consistently runs above the next tier, we will let you know so you can upgrade.

I have a Content Security Policy (CSP) that blocks external scripts. What do I do?

Add api.hiremika.com to your CSP script-src and frame-src directives. If you use a WordPress security plugin like Wordfence or iThemes Security, add api.hiremika.com to the allowed domains list.
