Community DevelopmentThe Landing at Cannon Branch
The City’s premier master-planned, mixed-use development, The Landing at Cannon Branch, broke ground in 2018. Spanning nearly 40 acres, it currently features 275 luxury residential units, a 98-room Tru by Hilton hotel, and 20,000 square feet of fully leased office space. Buchanan Partners, the master developer, is transforming the area into a vibrant community with a total of 250,000 square feet of Class-A office space and retail areas once complete. In August 2024, Purpose Lodging announced plans to invest $20 million to establish a Home2 Suites by Hilton hotel, creating 50 jobs. The total investment in The Landing is expected to reach $250 million.

Manassas Regional Airport
The City of Manassas made quite the splash when plans were announced for future commercial travel at the largest and busiest general aviation airport in Virginia—Manassas Regional Airport. In order to offer commercial services, Avports LLC will invest up to $125 million in improvements to the terminal and airport and contract with airlines to fly to popular destinations.
Outside of the obvious travel benefits to Manassas residents, the airport and its growing number of businesses have an estimated economic impact of over $375 million annually and support more than 1,300 jobs. New aerospace technologies continue to emerge year after year, positioning the Manassas Regional Airport and the City’s talented workforce to create new opportunities and attract additional leading aviation and aerospace firms.
Ashberry – Van Metre Homes
Van Metre Homes is re-developing a 17-acre residential section of Grant Avenue less than half a mile from Historic Downtown Manassas. The project will create more than 247 new residential dwellings ranging from single-family detached homes to multifamily back-to-back units. The Van Metre project coincides with significant public investment from the City to transform Grant Avenue with a new landscaped median, shared-use path, undergrounding of utilities, and other streetscape enhancements and walking paths leading to Downtown.
Micron Technology Inc.
Micron announced the largest capital investment in modern Virginia history in 2018. The $3 billion capital investment includes roughly $700 million for the construction of two new clean rooms and associated physical plants, as well as $2.3 billion in new equipment at the company’s semiconductor manufacturing plant in Manassas. In 2024, Micron announced a second investment of $2.14 billion and 340 new jobs. The project will enable the modernization of Micron’s existing Manassas facility to produce state-of-the-present DRAM memories and address future demand for domestic automotive, aerospace, defense and industrial markets.
Micron is the City’s largest employer, taxpayer, and utility customer and one of the state’s largest exporters. The company currently employs 1,300+ people and contributes to Manassas having the third-highest manufacturing weekly wage in Virginia.
