I don't want to re-live the last three days, so I'll make this brief.
My hard drive died Thursday night.
Data recovery was too expensive, thus I lost the last eight months of my files.
So...all of that Wes/Spike/Angel story is gone. There's some other fic and things that I wrote that are gone too, but I'm just not thinking about it. They're gone and there's nothing I can do.
There's some other stuff that's gone that I'm upset about, but I've my thesis project and everything prior to that, so I don't really have any room to bitch. And it's my fault anyway.
That being said, the shop was speedy and my computer was still under warranty, so they got it back to me today. At least it was only a weekend without my fifth appendage. Needless to say, I missed you all a bunch.
*hugs FG to pieces for keeping me sane with text msgs*
*pets the 'new' computer and checks out online data backup possibilities*
I did not win, either (Dave did, because he found the missing tapes at work today), but I am happy to not have sucked and to have gotten a quick note of thanks for yesterday even though I sucked. (Not in a good way. What? You know I had to say it. :P)
Now, if only there was only someone in my kitchen doing the dishes. If they were pretty, I wouldn't mind either.
Off to tag my lovely girls or boys, depending on how you look at it, and *then* do the dishes.
*toddles off*
The pretty flocked Chris/David picture in killerweasel's journal didn't hurt things either.
It's all very anticlimactic, but hey, it's done. I was pleased with my presentation, the reviewers (critics) seemed to like it, but my professor said not a word. That was a little bumming, but whatever. She's silly anyway.
DONE!!
Now, time for sleep, but...I'm being forced out to dinner.
So, the computer repair people were supposed to call, "by the end of the week." Haven't heard from 'em. But wouldn't matter if I had, because their subcontractor that's going to be doing the work closes at noon on Fridays anyway. So with the three day weekend and the *two* day time to install the screen, that leaves me with getting my computer on Thursday.
I feel awful not having been around for so long. I expect everyone will have forgotten all about me by the time I get back to posting in any regular fashion. June 17th is the end all date of school stress, but the next day I start driving east and my mom's got us at 3 weeks traveling/sight-seeing/visiting time. So that's like a whole 'nother month without you all. *clings* And then so on and so forth of getting a job, moving, finding an apartment, etc.
Well anyway, I'm missing you, and I hope things are going good for people. Needless to say, I haven't been able to check my flist much. Hope everyone has a lovely long weekend here in the states. *hugs*
I think versaphile said it, but I definitely agree. 2006 sucks.
So... What's the lastest suckage, you ask?
Someone broke into my car yesterday and stole my cd player and my cds. I'm actually more upset about the cds. 24 of 'em. And they were the good ones. All my Franz Ferdinand, the new Fiona Apple cd... There were a few mix cds that are easily replaceable, but that's still 21 of my cds gone. That was probably more money than the cd player at least spending wise, even if I'm sure it's not in resale. Insurance is covering the rest, but still, just one more thing. And of course this would happen right before I have to do a bunch of driving. Oh, and the police still haven't called me back. That makes me feel really great. ...And my computer is *still* in the shop.
Thanks, life. I love you, too.
In happier news, I saw "Thank You For Smoking" last night. Adam Brody was so cute. Aaron Eckhart was awesome, and really so was the rest of the cast. It was very amusing and enjoyable, I thought, but then I didn't have high expectations for it. Previews: "Tristram Shandy" looks funny, and "Joyeux Noel" looks really heart-breaking. Man, it's been a long time since I've been to a movie.
My laptop screen died in the middle of getting ready for my midterm presentation, and I am computerless for a week to 10 days while they fix it! *clings* I called today and they haven't even looked at it! It's been there two days already! I could fix it myself if I had the parts, gorramit!
Sorry, for the radio silence. It will probably continue...
My flist will probably be at skip eleventymillion by the time I can check it properly again.
*hugs* Send me random comments so I don't go through withdrawal! Anything!
Current Location:Really, really hot basement computer lab, back row.
Yup! Disabling the guys would also work - giving Joe something else to focus def. helps keep him from brushing aside his feelings/chickening out. :) Good job to Ianto for calling Joe on his random…
Aww. Making sure he can't run huh? And making sure Joe get's too protective momma bear to run. Brilliant! We should try that if locking them in a room wont work.
